Gary Lineker slam the Ballon d'Or ceremony as a "shambles" and reveals Kylian Mbappé was barely acknowledged despite sitting in the front row.
Gary Lineker: “I assumed they might give them a little whisper, but I thought that because when Kylian Mbappé turned up from Real Madrid, I was thinking, ‘Ooh, he must have been told here.’”
Micah Richards: “Do you know what I was thinking as well, Mike, about Kylian? Because he didn't really get a mention all night.”
Gary Lineker: “Yeah.”
Micah Richards: “So, you've got Lamine did the, you know, the young talent award, as they called it. You've got Harry Kane who won the goalscoring one.”
Gary Lineker: “But having said that, that's not voted. That's obviously just numbers.”
Micah Richards: “So he was going to win that anyway. But Kylian was sitting there in the front row, not really mentioned, just sitting there. And I was starting to think, would he have come if they...”
Gary Lineker: “But maybe they don't tell them. I mean, they don't in the Oscars, and it's obviously become a little bit like Oscars night. It's such a big deal. All the big players do turn up.”
Gary Lineker: “I mean, the show was a bit of a shambles, to be honest. So many things were going wrong, and I felt for them on stage. It was difficult, and it was long, and it was delayed. They seemed to be more focused on the red carpet than actually the night.”
