It's crazy that a $495 course got me further than a $100K college degree would have.
But realistically, it just taught me the basics of tech sales.
It didn't teach me:
- What company to work for and why
- Who to reach out to or how
- How to get over the fear of rejection
- How to stand out in the interview and the mock cold call
- How to evaluate or negotiate an offer
- What to do once I was hired to actually be a top SDR
It gave me a bunch of material with no clear path or action plan to actually get a job.
The basics were good. But if I knew then what I know now, I could have made a lot better decisions.

Agree w Fidel per usual. Been simulating the struggle for the last ~2 years. Any commissions I made I had direct deposited into HYSA/investments and have lived solely off of my base. I’m entering my prime earning years and need to be hungry every day to get after it and provide
I’m convinced when your bank account is sitting pretty, nuts are empty, and stomach is full you actually become a lazy piece of shit and not only lazy but I’m convinced you actually get dumber. Swear to god you lose like 50IQ points being comfortable. This is why when the wins begin to compound in your life you absolutely need mechanisms to fabricate the fire in belly. Wether it’s manufacturing enemies to compete and work harder, fasting during business hours. abstaining from sex for periods of time during lock in szn, moving all available funds to untouchable bank accounts. You will quiet literally see patterns like the matrix in your work, time moves slower, you notice that one answer to that one question was in front of you the entire time

This is 100% correct. When I was interviewing for SDR roles, every job listing said "experience with CRM" or "Salesforce preferred" or "HubSpot preferred."
It doesn't matter at all. You won't lose a job because you didn't have experience with a CRM. If you bring it up, they'll just be like cool.
Focus on selling yourself on why you have the traits to be a successful SDR.

.@FidelCacheFlow was posting about this a couple years ago. Called $100k/yr. broke. Many such cases.

10/10 no notes
Here’s what took me wayy too long to learn in b2b software sales
Buyers are busy, and there lazy about anything that isn’t “on fire” right now
Every time your deck, presentation or proposal makes them do the work like connecting the dots, figure why it matters or decide what to do next - they just won’t
They won’t even tell you no. They’ll just do nothing and “I’ll put this off til it becomes a fire” will beat you every single time.
So your whole job is taking the work off their plate
Start with why now. Don’t make them figure out why it’s a priority.
Tell them what’s going on in the market so the urgency is already there when u walk in
Then hit their pain, and do the math for them and show them where they could be
Their day, but better. No product yet.
Let them see the gap first, and then your solution is just the bridge. And if a feature doesnt connect to something they told you hurts, cut it. Nobody wants to work out how a feature helps them. That's your job.
Then proof. They shouldn't have to take your word for it or go digging.
Show somebody in their exact seat who had the same problem and got a real results and numbers profits out of it
Their peer's word beats yours every time.
And this is where most reps blow it.
They end with "let me know what you think." You just handed all the work back.
Now the buyer has to remember the conversation, sell it to their boss, figure out a timeline, and probably chase you down.
Never happens.
So build a mutual action plan right there
Ask when they want to be live, work backward from that date, and map out every step so they don't have to.
Send the calendar invites while you're still on the call, so the meetings are already booked. Ya sure they get some homework, but it's small and specific with a date on it.
Way easier than "go think about it." Plus it's a free lie detector. If they wont commit to the plan, they were never going to sign
That's the whole game.
Every piece takes a job off their plate
They don't have to find the reason, do the maths, picture the future, hunt for proof, or plan the rollout, adoption and execution
You did all of it.
All they have to do is say yess
