Turns out the Labour government is baffled by the fact that Poundland, a company that sells high volume goods at rock bottom prices with very thin margins, might go bankrupt after they’ve continually increased their labour costs That’s astoundingly cretinous
🚨NEW: Business Secretary Jonathon Reynolds' team has written to the owner of Poundland to "establish the latest situation" amid concerns the retailer could soon collapse into administration 12,000 jobs are at risk

Low IQ thinking raising minimum wage is going to fix anything btw. Raise minimum wage, business costs go up, prices go up, higher paid employees pay goes up to reset the difference, prices go up again. Now everyone is paid more but costs are highes and government wins in taxes.

This is the reality for business owners across Britain. It’s what I hear from businesses in Beaconsfield, Marlow and the South Bucks villages. Labour just do not get it. A must watch 👇

Firstly, props to this guy for not pulling his punches. Worth the watch. Any civilised society is built on the back of people like this. And if he does well, sells more pies, opens more pie shops, employs more staff, then everyone wins. But clearly, this government isn’t interested in that. They want to squeeze businesses like this for every last penny of tax revenue. It’s prophetic in some ways, you can choose to grow the pie or take an increasingly smaller slice of the same one. One leads to abundance, the other to ruin.
Utterly heartbreaking. A must watch.

And then idiots of Twitter Will say ‘oh if you can’t afford the increases your business is not viable’ 🤤 It’s not incompetence or bad management, the government is the one making businesses unviable.

Very obvious what Andy Burnham's tactic will be now. He'll pop up next year and say "I didn't want to have to call an early election. But these issues - defence, welfare reform, social care - are too big to put off any longer. I need a mandate to tackle them".

And right here we have a perfect example of the results of a cabinet full of people who’ve never run a business in their lives. @UKLabour are clueless. It’s actually heartbreaking what they’re doing to people just trying to run a business.
Utterly heartbreaking. A must watch.

A Labour chancellor called Healey grappling with the public finances amid fears of an economic collapse. Pressure from the right to slash spending, from the left to put the people before the bankers. Sounds familiar? Well, actually I'm talking about 1976 not 2026 and Denis Healey, not John. I suppose I couldn't have picked a better day to be transported back 50 years to watch The Gang of Three, a wonderful play in which Healey, Roy Jenkins and Tony Crosland 'clash over the soul of British socialism and their own relentless ambitions'. ✍️ Neil Clark Article | spectator.com/article/our-po…

Continually jacking up national wage floors has consequences. When moronic MPs cheer a higher minimum wage simply because it sounds nice, you just know that they simply don’t have the cognitive capacity to imagine the second order effects.
Utterly heartbreaking. A must watch.

You simply cannot tax Britain into prosperity. Ahead of the Budget, @UKLabour has a choice: back those who work hard, save, invest, and build businesses... or punish ambition to fund an ever-growing state. Britain needs a government that rewards success, not one that taxes it. Britain needs growth. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6x2…
