"University researchers built a satellite that tracks people from low Earth orbit and dispatches a 5 kg payload to within .1 meter of their position, traveling at Mach 25 to anywhere on Earth in under 5 minutes. They suggest it could be used to deliver greeting cards."
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

On Oct. 5, we test-fired Crucible, a CU student-built R-class motor with a carbon-fiber casing for Sunbeam’s spaceshot mission. Despite a nozzle anomaly, the test validated key design elements, and everyone is safe. Thanks to our sponsors & alumni!

I love when people who don’t know anything speak authoritatively on a subject and gain a ton of traction
Just adding my 2 cents to this discourse because it involves some engineering that Hibernaculum deals with; 1) There are what are known as ''mach diamonds'' clearly visible which can only be produced by liquified gases ie rocketry. Not fans. Not compressed gas, or air.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Mach diamonds appear in supersonic exhaust from compressed air cold-gas thrusters, as used in the Tesla Roadster demo; they are not exclusive to rocketry or liquified gases. The vehicle uses an underbody fan suction system for surface adhesion alongside thrusters. paultan.org/2026/10/16/tes… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_dia… evxl.co/2026/10/16/tes…

I'm not an Elon hater. I'm just telling you the Honest Truth: This is a marketing stunt. The technology is quite old. Just nobody ever thought of bolting it on a car. Because it's pointless. Porsche or Ferrari could also build something like this if they wanted, but they don't, because it's not worth it for them. It's worth it for Elon though, because his entire brand is all about having the halo of futurism. His marketing scales especially well with tech gimmicks like this, which is why he is financially incentivised to do them, while others aren't. Again, I'm not hating, but actually educating yall. This is not engineering genius. It's marketing genius.
NEW: Tesla Roadster does a mid air summersault from a standstill. WHAT 🀯🀯🀯

In two election cycles over just 3 years he spent more on electing the chud confederacy than he did starting/investing in Tesla, SpaceX, Boring, and Neuralink combined. β€œDon’t tax them, they need the money to start new great companies!”
πŸ”΄ News - Elon Musk quietly dropped $276 million on the GOP midterms, including $158 million to a Senate super PAC in one of the largest political donations ever.

Last weekend at Black Rock (BALLS 34), I flew my (near)-hypersonic homebuilt experimental 54mm rocket to Mach 4.96 (5372 fps)! To my knowledge, this is the fastest single-stage rocket ever flown and fully recovered by any amateur, among other records in student rocketry.
