Apropos of nothing, here’s a column my dad, a WWII vet, wrote in 1989 about politicians who desecrate the flag with performative patriotism…

People who think the Democratic Party is insufficiently left-wing are massively overrepresented in the media, especially segments of it that aren’t explicitly dedicated to covering politics.

lmao he really said, "they're so out of touch...they don't even scroll Instagram or tiktok like me."
Ben Rhodes, man.
This from @brhodes is probably the best description of how the Democratic foreign policy elite has gone about the mundane perpetuation of US power in the post-Obama era.

Ben Rhodes is also upset American decision-makers are not getting their info from scrolling tik tok and instagram.
Much of this description could easily apply to Rhodes himself during the Obama-era Syria catastrophe, particularly when it came to Assad’s use of chemical weapons. Perhaps projection is a form of progressive atonement now. Rather awkward, however, that Rhodes is clearly going after his fellow National Security Action colleagues, Jake Sullivan and Jon Finer. What those think tank all-hands must look like!

"Horseshoe theory isn't real" okay so then explain this clip please
Norman Finkelstein, Cornel West, and Richard Wolff discuss how Tucker Carlson has changed recently, with West saying that we should give Tucker a chance to prove he's really changed for the better. West says that Tucker is going through a "spiritual transformation" and Wolff says that Tucker becoming more religious could make him pro-immigration and against mass deportation.
Cornel West: "Now, he's changed again. People do change, I believe in people changing. And when they change, you give them a chance to be tried and true."
Richard Wolff: "I suspect Mr. Carlson may have an epiphany around his squaring the religion with that deportation."

This kind of Islamophobic rhetoric is not only repugnant, but dangerous. Everyone running for office should repudiate it in the strongest of terms.

It’s darkly amusing that every time Jews tweet their concerns about anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party the response is some variation of:
“STFU whiny Jew”
“Stop exaggerating about anti-Semitism (George Conway special)”
“Anti-Semitism isn’t a thing/criticism of Israel isn’t anti-Semitic”
“You hate Muslims”
“You love genocide”
AND
“Vote Blue … it’s for your own good”

.@ryangrim literally pushed a completely false rape smear (that did a massive, massive disservice to actual survivors of sexual assault) solely because he was bitter that his candidate lost a primary election. Easily one of the most despicable Dem discourses ever on this site.
A strikingly different tone from what he said in text yesterday — funny how that works!
Again, I hope El-Sayed wins because the alternative is unacceptable, but the dude really couldn’t be more obvious as a disingenuous scumbag.
Between him and Platner, it’s been fun seeing the Pod Bros prove themselves as gold medal dupes.
Huge respect to @AbdulElSayed for this calm, measured answer. He didn't take the bait at all and stayed focused on the core message. Not easy in a heated situation like this, that is for sure...

After all the hell she got for saying Platner couldn’t be trusted and that the Michigan primary polls didn’t look real, I don’t think “regularly ridiculous” is a fair, or even remotely accurate, descriptor of Magdi.
Ronald Reagan never mentioned black people during his 1980 campaign speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He strictly said, “states’ rights.”
Anyone saying @RebellionPac groceries ad in Michigan is antisemitic is not only an obvious liar, but also an antisemite themselves. The ad never mentions Jewish people, it's strictly about Israel. But people like @VanJones68 put the blame on Jews instead, to protect Israel.
I despise the guy and the sizable antisemitic chunk of his fandom even more. But, as I’ve said before, I still hope he wins (and expect he will given the environment). If I lived in Michigan, I’d hold my nose and vote for him — despite everything.
Rogers would be a reliable Senate vote for the president who instigated January 6 — a deranged aspiring dictator who proves every single day why he’s a clear and present danger to American democracy and national security. By itself, that’s disqualifying, and outweighed every concern I have about El-Sayed. There’s also the giant issue of the insanely racist and Islamophobic campaign Roger’s, Trump, and the rest of them are running.
American elections are binary choices. Sometimes the choice really sucks but that’s the choice.
I don’t fault any Jewish voter in Michigan who can’t bring themselves to vote for El-Sayed given his conduct, and his supporters’ conduct, in the primary and general. I share many of their feelings about it.
There’s no denying that he’s largely made it more difficult for many Dems, particularly Jewish Dems to support him He’s often demonstrated indifference to Jews’ concerns about antisemitism — and sometimes has verged into outright hostility and combativeness to those concerns.
I think it’s right and good for Democrats to call on El-Sayed to do better — both now and after the election. I also think there’s a longer-term issue that ultimately needs to be addressed regarding the groyper-esque noxiousness and bigotry that El-Sayed and the far-left have elevated as a feature in intra-party politics.
But the stakes are what they are — grave and historic. People should vote for El-Sayed and everyone else on the ballot with a D next to their name — even if they suck.

What @BeauBayh is doing is nothing sort of incredible- he’s leading in a state that Trump won by 19 points, in a race that no Democrat has won in the last 34 years.
The Democratic Party’s resurgence is real; and its path is through states like IN and candidates like Beau
In 1962, my grandad Birch ran for office, but there was one problem - nobody knew how to pronounce our name. So his campaign came up with a jingle to help voters remember it.
As we approach Election Day, I wanted to bring that tune back and put my own spin on it.
My grandad’s example inspired me to believe in the power of public service to make a real difference in people’s lives. He helped pass the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, authored the constitutional amendment lowering the voting age to 18 so that the young Americans fighting and dying in Vietnam would have a voice in choosing their leaders, and championed Title IX, opening doors for generations of women in college athletics.
I’m proud to carry on that tradition of service in my own way.

Or he's more concerned about changing American policy toward Israel & showing he can't be pressured than he is about beating Trump-ism. Dems understandably view Trump as an existential threat to democracy; but neither AES or Stevens is behaving as if stopping him is their #1 goal

Jason is vaporizing Haley’s future so that he can be a main character in this moment and it is sad to watch her participate in that. He was an extraordinarily toxic presence, was verbally abusive to staff and had some of the worst political instincts I’ve ever witnessed.
Rep. Haley Stevens' fiancé, Jason Turkish, says Jewish Democrats are deeply troubled by the growing dispute between Stevens and Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.
Speaking on @foxandfriends, Turkish says longtime Democratic families are struggling with how to respond as El-Sayed faces criticism over his views on Israel and his handling of an ad Stevens has condemned as antisemitic.
The confrontation comes after El-Sayed's campaign tells Stevens to stay away from his events, throwing a planned Sunday appearance with Rep. Jim Clyburn into uncertainty.
