My pal Rab turns 60 next month. He was featured on Surgeons at the Edge of Life after undergoing complex throat surgery which left him unable to talk but saved his life. I asked @RangersFC & @TennentsLager if they could send him a gift & both have pulled it out the bag! Thank you

Why should Carer’s Allowance be reduced at all? £86.45 a week isn’t even a wage, let alone minimum wage. Carers provide thousands of pounds worth of unpaid labour, often around the clock. Why is the government clawing back pennies from people saving it billions?
Mind this...

Thank fuck we didny listen to their pish and carried on regardless.

I can afford a bloody bag for my kid, what I can't afford is proper course equipment and the schools are running courses they do NOT have equipment to run! My kid is doing a Nat 5 Photography course using an old mobile phone & she's gutted about it.
Will it also be made mandatory to use them? Banning all other bags? Coz otherwise its a big fucking flashing beacon informing everyone who the poor bairns are.
Are the water bottles in these bags all the same too? 30 identical water bottles in one class poses a high risk of infection spread. We all know young uns set things down & forget where they put them, you'll have aw the bairns drinking out of each others bottles. Fking Chaos
Wee Jimmy's dad died of a drugs overdose, he lives in a hoose thats cold in winter. His mum can't afford to send him to activities. There's no enough scran in the hoose. He lives in a damp flat where water gets in, but its awrite, he's on a equal footing coz he's got a schoolbag
This wee dafty loves attention so much that ye get away with anything as long as he's being touched. He demands it. Im basically his massage therapist, as well as slave to all his needs. Cats use their cuteness to manipulate

A fish was found on a car windscreen at Pittenweem Harbour during Storm Boelo, and naturally, the Scots in the comments have had an absolute field day. 😂🏴
Had a great couple of days at the @SSRG2021 conference. Good debates, informative speeches, and meeting people ive not seen for a while. Looking forward to hearing @WingsScotland tomorrow on the subject of whistleblowing. For obvious reasons!

People have been given only weeks to understand a technical, long-term proposal involving an Environmental Impact Assessment, major electricity demand, water and cooling infrastructure, construction impacts and claimed economic benefits.
No one should have to rely on newspaper reports, campaign counters or developer presentations to know whether a planning authority has received thousands of representations.
The official planning record should be timely, accessible and independently intelligible.
‼️Chapelcross raises a wider question for Scotland.🏴
Hyperscale data centres are not ordinary applications. They need full ownership disclosure, cumulative energy and environmental assessment, credible jobs evidence and upfront, legally enforceable community benefit.
The immediate community demand is simple:
Dumfries and Galloway Council should publish a live anonymised register and weekly totals, explain its methodology, and extend the consultation so the public can participate meaningfully.
This is not an argument against staff, due process or investment.
It is an argument for a planning process equal to the scale of the decision:
transparent evidence, adequate time, visible public participation and accountable outcomes.
Anything less is an abandonment of democratic process.
A proposed 1GW data-centre campus at Chapelcross near Annan has become a major test of planning transparency in Scotland.
Communities should not be denied the right to object & people must be convinced that the planning system is hearing them.
CX Tech’s application, 26/1649/PIP seeks planning permission in principle for eight data-centre buildings, a training centre, industrial units, a substation and associated infrastructure.
The application was validated on 28 September Public comments are due by 29 October
The stated scale is extraordinary:
• eight buildings of around 120MW
• approximately 1GW total capacity
• up to 162,000m² of data-centre floorspace
• a claimed £16.5bn investment
• construction proposed from 2027 to 2035
These are applicant figures, not independently guaranteed
A 1GW campus running at 80% utilisation would consume roughly: year
1,000 MW×8,760 hours/year×80%=7,008,000 MWh/year
That is 7.008 TWh per year—roughly 7 TWh annually assuming continuous operation at an average 80% load factor.
That is a useful scale comparison not a forecast of actual use. Load, phasing, tenants and grid arrangements remain unknown.
The developer says the site can pair digital infrastructure with nearby renewables, use closed-loop non-evaporative cooling, and create high-value jobs.
Those are propositions to be tested through the Environmental Impact Assessment and planning process not facts the public should simply be asked to accept.
Opposition has been substantial and fast.
Campaign reports said more than 1,000 objections were lodged in 48 hours; the Scottish Greens later said more than 5,000 people had signed its e-action. Those figures should not be confused with a council-certified live total of formal representations.
The council’s planning portal showing “zero comments” does not mean there have been zero objections.
Dumfries and Galloway Council says it has received a significant volume of representations. It is changing its normal publication practice because each response requires manual checking and processing.
Its decision is that individual representations will not be published online as they arrive.
Instead, after the notification period, the council says it will publish:
• the number supporting and objecting
• a summary of material planning grounds
‼️That is a real transparency problem.
It is important to state this accurately. There is no evidence (yet) that objections are being discarded or ignored.
But there is also no opportunity, during the consultation, for communities to inspect the representations, see whether key concerns are being captured, or assess the emerging public record.
‼️For a small household extension, delayed publication may be frustrating. For a proposed 1GW campus one that could reshape land use, grid demand, landscape, transport and public infrastructure for decades it is a serious democratic deficit.
Public consultation is not merely a mailbox.
It should allow residents, community councils, local businesses, elected representatives and civil-society groups to see the issues raised, correct misinformation, develop evidence and make informed submissions before the deadline.
The solution does not require abandoning data protection or overburdening officers.
The council could publish a rolling, anonymised register containing:
• date received
• support / objection / neutral
• postcode sector
• key planning grounds
• redacted representation where appropriate
It could also publish a weekly dashboard:
• total representations received
• total valid objections and support
• number awaiting processing
• main issues raised
• how duplicate campaign submissions are recorded
That would protect fairness without making public scrutiny impossible. The Council should also extend the consultation period.

Remember these 2 girls, attacked, abused, frightened & were sexually harassed by a grown man & because they are poor working class children they were blamed, not believed & politicians & the police were briefing against 2 girl children. This is the real oppression & inequality in this country poor white working class children that no one cares about or believes & abusing them costs nothing because no one values them & they dont have a box to tick.
BREAKING: A Bulgarian man who assaulted a 12-year-old girl in Dundee, in an incident that led to a viral video of a child with an axe and a knife, has avoided prison.
23-year-old Ilia Belov, who also made sexual remarks towards the girl, has been sentenced to 18 months supervision, 300 hours of unpaid work, and will be placed on the sex offenders register for 18 months.
