He would not be a top 20-25 candidate at any other school other than State.. people are really not thinking through basic ideology. Rather amazing.
Philip Rivers has as much or more football expertise than anyone else we could hire. Any college coaching inexperience can be offset by high caliber assistants. What he can bring that no one else can is record donor contributions, and cash is what we need more than anything.

Fuck it, I’m in. Welcome to NC State.
New Mexico head coach Jason Eck, certified ball knower: 🎮 "Like in Madden football, a guy gets injured on Madden, you got to make a substitution. And it comes up on the screen, your starter is usually like a 90, and your backup's an 80. But because of the injury, the 90 guy is down to 78... So that was kind of the thought process... All the kids will know exactly what I'm talking about."

Philip Rivers to NC State has some uncomfortable Sidney Lowe parallels. Beloved former player. Emotional homecoming. Fanbase desperate for a winner. Limited experience at the college level. Lowe actually had MORE coaching experience when hired. We can’t confuse being a legendary player with being the right person to lead a major college program. Rivers deserves consideration, but nostalgia can’t drive this hire. Unless we win. Take my money?

Who can argue with such a well thought out and eloquently stated argument?
We dont give a fuck about your feelings or proof he can run a college program... If he fails, he's fired after a few years just like all these other no-names you like. Stick to womens sports...

I’m sick of the Phillip push. I think it’s a stupid and reckless gamble. Hate me if you want, it’s an extremely shortsighted move to make him head coach. Make him GM or something else for all I care, but making him HC seems like a real dumb decision.

College football has changed greatly. The role of head coach and how rosters are assembled are way different. To hire well you need to fully understand this. Those advising a HC search need to do their homework because a big name and prior NFL success matters little otherwise.
NC State AD Boo Corrigan has announced former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach and NC State linebacker Bill Cowher will assist with the Wolfpack’s coaching search. Dewayne Washington will also assist in the search. on3.com/news/nc-state-hot-bo…

As a fan WHY would you financially support Philip Rivers and not another coach?

Really?
I would be surprised if Will Wade tries to play RJ Luis. He has a good enough roster right now, and is smart enough to realize Luis isn’t worth the risk.

The most interesting Dave Doeren stat is that he won 70+% of his conference games in 4 out of 7 seasons from 2017-2023. Before 2017, you have to go back to 1986 to find 4 such years.

I wonder if Noah, Hollywood, Anderson and Peak would have left if they would have gotten the same amount of money that they did at the schools they went to. We have lost a lot of good players to the portal.

I feel guilty. Maybe our AD was the one to blame so much more than Dave was... he had some on the field coaching issues, but God, he seems like a really good guy. Maybe this is why he stuck around here for so long? I'm sorry Mr. Doeren. I've been incredibly narrowminded & mean. – at Raleigh, NC

Calling Dave Doeren a habitual underachiever is wild. Dude was outrecruited by unc every year and dog walked them repeatedly. No objective evidence that he didn't overperform the talent pool available to him for the majority of the pre-NIL era.
Incredibly bold statement for a habitual underachiever that was given a massive head start over his rival thanks to a 10 year NCAA investigation and the sheer number of injuries in the final 2 years of Larry Fedora's tenure in Chapel Hill.

This is absolutely true. Our fans expect Kobe Beef on a McDonald’s budget. We need a good coach and a much bigger budget or things are going to change much.

1️⃣ The headline: "For this program to become what is wanted and expected, the resources need to match the expectations." He said he hopes NC State makes that commitment to football for the next coach 💰

Dave Doeren just gave a 17 minute masterclass in how we as a society should handle adversity. The easy thing to do was just nothing, hide and wait for things to blow over. The next easiest thing would be to give into anger or resentment. Dave chose the hard route. Acknowledge your disappointment but pay your respects to a community you built brick by brick. It's just a great reminder that if you want to criticize Dave for everything he didn't do, you need to appreciate everything he did.

Just watched the Dave Doeren media availability from the Murphy Center... quick thoughts CLASSY: that Dave took the time to thank his staff publicly. NOT CLASSY: a member of the clickbait, cosplay "media" covering the Pack thought it was funny to mock Coach for wearing a light green hoodie on their Zoom open mic. TRUTH: Doeren called out the obvious truth: NC State did not have the funding to maintain consistency in the roster, losing 5 starters to the SEC and BIG TEN; Terrell Anderson to USC Jacarrius Peak to South Carolina Noah Rogers to Alabama Hollywood Smothers to Texas Kenny Soares Jr. to Michigan State GRATITUDE: Dave thanked the N⭐️C high school coaches for welcoming him 14 years ago—the Wolfpack led the FBS schools in-state with 49 #BoldNorthState natives on the Pack roster. SCRIPT FLIP: Player development is no longer the job of a CFP-level head coach... It's about who has the checkbook to buy the talent. Doeren and staff were strong at player development, but NC State (and UNC, Duke, Wake) are operating at a AAA level in the second-tier ACC. NC State's budget is wayyyyyyy behind UNC, which is also wayyyyyyy behind the BIG TEN and SEC. Bernie Sanders-level donors to the Wolfpack and Rams Club aren't making much of a difference, and that is why the state's two biggest programs aren't competitive with CFP-level rosters. More to come later... #NCState #Amedeos #DaveDoeren #CollegeFB #ACC

Dave Doeren mentioned how difficult it has been for NC State to keep up in the NIL era: "They say there's a cap -- but there isn't. I think that's the one thing that people need to understand. There are haves and have-nots when it comes to how much money schools have in this space."
