Sizewell C will generate low-carbon electricity for decades to come, but its impact goes far beyond keeping the lights on. 🏗️ Once operational, it is expected to reduce energy system costs by around £2 billion a year, helping to keep bills under control for families and businesses across Britain. It will strengthen the UK's energy security, providing home-grown clean electricity to around 6 million homes for at least 60 years. Someone sitting in a classroom today could still be benefiting from Sizewell C's electricity when they retire. 🇬🇧 We're not just building a power station. We're helping build the skilled workforce, supply chains and industrial capability Britain will need for decades to come. The benefits are already being felt - more than 2,500 people are now working on site, we've employed over 150 apprentices, and we're working with more than 1,000 suppliers across the country. Our goal is for 70% of construction spend to go to UK companies, ensuring the investment made in Sizewell C supports jobs, skills and businesses throughout Britain. 🎦 Construction is progressing well, and every milestone brings us closer to delivering reliable, low-carbon electricity and long-term value for the country. 🤝 Together, our supply chain is helping deliver a project that will support Britain’s energy future for generations to come. #SizewellC #Megaproject #SupplyChain #NuclearEnergy #Nuclear

The Northumberland Line has carried 400% more passengers than expected in its early months of operation since last year. Whoever is doing the sums in the treasury needs a new calculator. As with any railway infrastructure in the UK build it and people will use it.

It was predicted 290,000-390,000 passengers would use the new station which opened a year ago today. Instead, more than 800,000 have used the @greateranglia station.

And the station has been build as a catalyst from large amounts of housing and development in the wider area. Good news all round and bodes well for the future.

Today we're joining our #CommunityRail friends in celebrating the many scenic walking, wheeling and cycle routes accessible by rail. There are some fantastic routes to explore here in @EastSuffolk, connecting the railway with nature/heritage/local attractions. #TracksAndTrails

Spot on.
This bullshit project from Herts County Council isn’t about connectivity: it’s about cost cutting. This crap needs to be challenged. “Trackless trams” are not trams: they’re BUSES. Bouncing bendy buses stuck halfway in traffic; and take away tracks & you take away fixed links.

For the avoidance of doubt, I’m not knocking buses. Buses are great and I think we need a LOT more of them. But claiming they’re something else (especially under the guise of a supposed upgrade) is not light rapid transit, it’s bustitution.
