I don't think his ouster is due to off-field issues. The shot he played in the second innings of the Mumbai Test against New Zealand must have infuriated the team management, the same way Rishabh Pant's shot in the Guwahati Test against South Africa did (this is not an insight or anything. Might be totally wrong but just my feeling)
Of course, the ramifications were bigger for him, as he did not have the stature of Pant to save his place in the team

When you are not being selected, why not try something different? He has stayed in his comfort zone .
It is not even wrong to say you cannot rate runs at number 5 below the same way as top-order runs in the Ranji Trophy

This is exactly why I am bullish about India.
As I have keep saying, I am witnessing things that would have been considered impossible in the 90s.
When I was growing up, the default assumption was that every single thing in India is a shittier version of its foreign counterpart.
That is changing - bit by bit, piece by piece, product by product.
Here is a guy from Japan talking about how the metro in Pune is cleaner and quieter than the metro in Tokyo.
As India grows, the current Tier 2 cities will look and feel more developed than the current Tier 1 cities, as they are starting off cleaner and greener.
By the way, this is the Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) metro at 11PM.
Infinitely better than the Berlin metro at 11 PM.

The train that carried me to Mumbai, when I was 40 day old and my 21 year old mum 24 years ago, is finally a superfast train :). Used to run to Renigunta, reverse and go to Tirupati, and again reverse back to Renigunta before moving further. Took 42ish hrs back then, now it's 35. – at Navi Mumbai, India
