Putin doesn't want peace. His goal is to eliminate Ukrainian nation. To stop the war, Ukraine needs more weapons and more powerful ones.
A massacre in the Dnipro passenger railway station today. A guided Russian drone targeted a crowded platform, killing at least 13 people and injuring many others, as per city officials. But diesel. But Russia wants peace. But don’t you dare hit their refineries.

Aggressor turned a negotiation table into the roof (krysha) for the continued war with impunity
💊 “The special military operation must continue”: Peskov explains why the Kremlin has no intention of stopping the war Following a massive Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow, described by Russian authorities as one of the largest ever, the Kremlin once again insisted that military operations must continue. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, 613 drones were heading toward the Moscow region overnight, with 231 allegedly shot down on their approach to the capital. Meanwhile, another round of talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the US is scheduled for the first half of November in Abu Dhabi. So the Kremlin is willing to sit down at the negotiating table. Just not to stop the war. Brilliant!

Senator @MittRomney is 100% correct. Putin's is no Hitler, but good lack negotiating with him. He is as ideological and stubborn as Hitler. Putin will wage war until he is stopped. It's no President @ZelenskyyUa fault that Putin rejects all peace proposals.
Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

Three important observations from the recent Pew poll: 1. Americans see Russia (-70%) more negatively than not only Saudi Arabia (-55%), but even China (-54%), universally considered to be the chief US adversary. 2. Americans' attitude towards UK (+54%) is less warm than to Italy (+59%) and even to Japan (+65%). 3. Trump's policies towards Canada (confrontation) and Russia (appeasement) are diametrically opposite ones compare to predominant attitudes of Americans towards these two countries(+63% and -70%, respectively). pewresearch.org/global/2026/…

KEY TAKEAWAY: Ukraine’s partners must learn what is arguably the most important lesson from this war – recognizing (and denying) the Kremlin’s strategy of disrupting Ukraine’s and its partners’ initiative. Russia has undermined Ukraine’s and Western initiative in the past by manipulating Western decision-making. The Kremlin invoked nuclear blackmail during Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast and in Kherson in Fall 2022. The Kremlin’s cognitive warfare effort at the time negatively shaped Ukraine’s allies’ decision about supplying Ukraine with military equipment and prevented Ukrainian forces from imposing additional defeats on Russian forces, disrupting Ukraine’s momentum and prolonging the war. Russia seeks to keep Ukraine and its allies in a reactive stance, focused on discussing tactics rather than developing a strategy. Russia is trying to create new dilemmas to force Ukraine and its allies to respond to exigent threats and crises, for example jet-powered drones or offers of cooperation — like the Kremlin’s energy deal — to undermine Ukraine and the West’s proactive and sustained campaigns. Ukraine’s allies must prevent Russia from once again disrupting Ukraine’s battlefield momentum and help Ukraine seize and hold the strategic initiative against Russia — as Russia’s strategic bombing campaign against Ukraine becomes more brutal alongside Russia’s kinetic attacks against Europe. Most immediately, Ukraine’s partners must help accelerate the scaling of countermeasures to Russian jet-powered drones, recognizing that this capability makes Russia’s 2026 strategic bombing campaign particularly dangerous due to the systems’ effectiveness against dynamic targets, including those deep in Ukraine’s rear. Ukraine’s partners must proactively resource Ukraine’s battlefield momentum. Momentum requires resourcing and planning. The European Union’s release of its loan to Ukraine should avoid repeating the incrementalism patterns in delivery of Western military aid that allowed Russia to prolong the war in the first place. European funding needs to support Ukraine’s military leadership’s ability to plan simultaneous and successive operations well into the next year in order to sustain and grow the effects of Ukraine’s 2026 progress in its ground war. The United States and Europe must proactively resource Ukraine’s deep strike campaign against Russia’s defense industrial and energy sectors by increasing sanctions on Russia’s energy sector and helping accelerate the growth of Ukraine’s deep strike capability.
SPECIAL REPORT: The United States and Europe risk squandering the best opportunity since 2022 to alter Russia’s trajectory toward a longer and larger war. Ukraine currently has the best chance of seizing the strategic initiative against Russia since December 2022, while simultaneously facing the greatest risk to its momentum. Russia’s ballistic missile and jet-powered drone campaign against Ukraine, alongside its growing kinetic attacks against NATO states, aims to drive Ukraine and its allies into a reactive stance and distract them from seizing a hard-won opportunity to hold the strategic initiative against Russia. The Kremlin’s offer to supply diesel to global markets is a cognitive warfare effort that aims to disrupt the momentum of the effective pressure campaign against Russia’s energy sector. The Kremlin is vigilant about Ukraine and its partners holding the initiative and seeks to deter and disrupt it at all costs. The United States and Europe can either deny the Kremlin’s strategy or risk a greater war with greater escalation risks.

Russia's unrelenting attacks on Ukraine and the intentional targeting of civilians proves that Putin has zero intention of ending this war. He is a war criminal and a menace to the civilized world, and should be treated as such.

Another escalation from Russia, designed to scare Ukraine's allies. But make no mistake: Putin is feeling the heat, and looking to brazen his way out of the disastrous war he started. Defeat is at hand - if we have the will to deliver it. thehill.com/policy/internati…

It seems like we should brace ourselves. I am sure Ukraine will not give up, but the scale of terror Russia is about to unleash could be worse than anything we have seen so far. Eric Schmidt: "Russia is mobilizing for total war. It is considering another vast call-up of troops, which Ukraine expects to happen this fall, and is building the industrial capacity to produce weapons in extraordinary quantities. Ukraine cannot match such enormous capacity on its own. This coming winter will be critical. Russia is already exploiting Ukraine’s lack of ballistic missile defenses to strike power plants and substations with the objective of soon plunging Ukrainian people into darkness, cold and misery. Ukraine has the engineers, the resolve and the spirit of innovation to fight this total war. What it lacks is the industrial scale that only its Western partners can provide. Ukraine urgently needs interceptors, ammunition and long-range strike weapons, alongside investment to expand its own manufacturing capacity. The West should treat Ukraine’s defense industry as an extension of its own, co-producing weapons, eliminating supply bottlenecks and ensuring Ukrainian commanders never have to ration their targets." washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

NEW: Negotiations to secure the durable and lasting peace that US President Donald Trump has said he aims for cannot be based on Russian lies. They can only be based on the actual realities of the battlefield and the real trajectory of the war, which does not favor Russia. More Key Takeaways: The Ukrainian military demonstrated, and a Kremlin-affiliated milblogger acknowledged, the falsity of one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's more outrageous claims of fictitious Russian gains in Donetsk Oblast. The pervasive culture of lying within the Russian armed forces paradoxically both damages Russian forces' ability to fight effectively and supports exaggerated Kremlin claims that Putin weaponizes to enhance Russia's negotiation position. Negotiations to secure the durable and lasting peace that US President Donald Trump has said he aims for cannot be based on Russian lies. They can only be based on the actual realities of the battlefield and the real trajectory of the war, which does not favor Russia. Ukrainian forces recently advanced in the Slovyansk direction and the Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka tactical area. Russia launched 92 drones against Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian forces continued their long-range strike campaign against Russian military assets and oil infrastructure on the night of September 6 to 7.

Socialism Is Here—and It’s Serious by @Peggynoonannyc via @WSJopinion Yes, Soviet socialism was a disaster. I lived under that system. Today’s American socialists would have been branded U.S. agents and sent to the Gulag. Hopefully, they won't be demonized here.

This. This is a key difference between the Weimar Germany and the "Weimar Russia". After the collapse of the USSR, Russia has never been punished in any way. Instead, it received a massive amount of help - direct help in billions of dollars, subsidized credits in tens of billions, technology transfers and trade opportunities - in hundreds of billions of dollars. The Russian grievances were developed in spite of the massive help and support it received.
"Spare me the humiliation theory. Russia was not humiliated after the Cold War. It was indulged — and it read every kindness as weakness, every gift as tribute. The grievance was never mistreatment. The grievance was lost dominion."

For those who worry too much about infighting inside the Ukrainian government - read Churchill's history of the World War II. Munitions ministers' resignations, defense and navy ministers dramas, egos of top generals, their dismissals and appointments - a lot of things will look familiar...
Just to reiterate. Ukraine has not seen anything like this in war-time. A senior official (at least until very recently) criticising Zelensky so openly. Even ex commander in chief Zaluzhny — who was in persistent conflict with the president — has generally held his tongue.
