Patrick Stewart brought a new level of performance to science fiction with his peerless performance as Jean-Luc Picard. He was also a genius on stage--I saw his Christmas Carol and two Pinter plays I disliked but for him. And he wrote a remarkable memoir. What a loss.

She was shocked when the ad came out, and it was for Troy Jackson.

Baseball is quite literally one of the only reasons to listen to the radio. Besides going in person, it's the ideal way to consume the product.
Nothing brings the innate rhythm, cadence, & beauty of the game to life like listening to a radio call & imagining the field of play.
Replying to @DavidPSamson
@DavidPSamson says MLB no longer needs radio: "We don't need baseball on radio anymore." The former Marlins president predicts on Nothing Personal that "radio will go the way of Kodak and Blockbuster." @JohnMamola has more. #MLB

It's kinda amazing how with all the population movement from the Rust Belt to Sun Belt since the 1970s, sports team allegiances have remain firmly anchored in the old Midwest and Northeast. Not just for the Packers and Steelers and Bills. Lots of teams in various sports. – at Gettysburg, PA

I appreciate the positive attention from new corners of the political Twitterverse.
But if you’re a Democrat who opposes these actions by Republicans but supports any of them from your own party, you also missed the point of the article.

Voting is important. You should vote.
More important than voting is what you tell yourself about your vote. Your actual vote may not matter much. It's one of many.
What you tell yourself about what you're doing shapes you.

If it’s a blowout, the GOP should not once again cheat itself out of a valuable confrontation with defeat and refuse to incorporate the voters’ verdict into their appeals to the electorate.

There should be a lot more inquiry about why the AK Supreme Court said in June than an opinion would follow in the Dan Sullivan case explaining the decision to put him on the ballot. And yet 4 months later there's no opinion on the eve of the election. alaskanews.com/c/alaska-news…

"Castanets" is a fantastic song from a great album and it is a worthy selection by Rolling Stone. But that's a pretty dumb reason to delete a song from a live repertoire.

When fake "Dan Sullivan" filed to run in Alaska, he filed as Republican. However, his voter registration card has always been listed "NONPARTISAN."
He has been registered nonpartisan for 40 years.
Alaska Stat. § 15.25.030(a)(5) requires a candidate’s declaration of candidacy to state the political party or group "with which the candidate is registered as affiliated." The Alaska Supreme Court confirmed in Kohlhaas v. State (2022) that a candidate "cannot lie about being affiliated with a particular party."
Well, he lied as we now know it was a whole plot to deceive voters.
In June 2026, a complaint was filed on behalf of the Alaskan Republican Party. It was overruled by Alaska Supreme Court on the grounds of "good faith."
It was NOT good faith.

.@JohnPuri2026 is a smart guy and a good writer, and no journalist gets to control who happens to enjoy their work. He's written plenty of stuff they wouldn't like as well, because he's a principled free-market thinker who doesn't write to please any political party.

#1 is so important. Every election cycle some people we’ve never heard of do big numbers on here for extrapolating early vote numbers and it later becomes clear they had no idea what they were talking about.

I periodically argue against tenure and civil service firing protections, and am berated by teachers and professors saying "How would you like it if your boss could just fire you because they didn't like you?" as if the very idea would shock me.
At Nuremberg, American judges had to teach the Soviet judges about concepts such as “innocent until proven guilty.” The Soviets saw the trials as simply being about whether the accused went to the gulags or were taken out back with a pistol.
Most people aren’t prepared to learn just how different their cultures are from others, let alone realize the implications.
