So excited to share our work out in @NatImmunol !!! We analyzed antigen-specific CD8 T cells differentiating down effector/memory vs exhaustion (Exh) lineages using scRNAseq/scATACseq. Major findings 👇

What a PERFFect day to share our new preprint!
With @tsion_abay #BobStickels @MerilTakizawa @ChaligneRonan and @Satpathology, we introduce PERFF-seq, a new experimental approach to studying rare cells with scRNA-seq via transcript-specific enrichment. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… 1/n

I'm excited to share our new work on antibody and B cell responses to BA.5 and XBB.1.5! We look at how immune memory from prior exposures to SARS-CoV-2 shapes the relative contributions of cross-reactive vs. variant-specific responses. See thread below!

Check out our new manuscript on
@medrxivpreprint. We show that ‘immune imprinting’ with ancestral SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines is beneficial for priming neutralizing antibody responses against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. 1/n medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Yay! So excited to see this story OUT. Congrats @simpak
Are all skin TRM cells created equal? Beyond excited to share our new paper in @ScienceMagazine, where we show diverse CD8+ TRM use distinct molecular pathways to develop and persist in skin, which we can target to fine-tune the skin-immune landscape🧵👇🏻 science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…
Great work @CalebLareau ! Congratulations:)
Out today in @Nature, we describe HHV-6 reactivation in T cells, including therapeutic CAR T cells. I’m so grateful to have worked with an all-star team during my time in the @Satpathology lab that led to these findings. nature.com/articles/s41586-0… 1/n

Loved seeing everyone at the @ShlomchikLab 30yr symposium
While not in this photo, one thing the symposium highlighted was that @KMNickerson is the heart of the lab!
@balaguri we missed you but glad we could see you via zoom
So excited for the new building!
Amazing things happening at Penn! Toured our new building this week. Home for @UPenn_I3H, @_ImmuneHealth_, The Colton Center for Autoimmunity. Open mid-2025. There's an #Immunorevolution happening @ Penn. Exciting times Autoimmunity, Immunotherapy, CAR T, RNA science, Nobel Prize

Our review is out in @ImmunityCP reviewing CD8 T cells in the Cancer-Immunity Cycle! A wonderful anniversary issue with reviews covering many aspects of the CIC originally described by @DanChenMDPhD and Ira Mellman. Wonderful working with @AnnaGlobig @Tcellogic @EJohnWherry!
CD8+ T cells in the cancer-immunity cycle: CD8+ T cells are “end effectors” of cancer immunity. Wherry, Kaech, Giles, & Globig review the current understanding of CD8+ T cell differentiation and function in cancer, discussing recent advances within a four-signal framework that incorporates T cell metabolism and the impact of the tumor microenvironment. authors.elsevier.com/a/1huvh…

Congratulations to one of our new medicine laureates: Katalin Karikó (@kkariko)! 🎉
An interview with her will be coming soon.
Yay!!! Congratulations @markmpainter Excited to see this out!
I'm excited to see our work on immune responses during SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infection out in @NatImmunol! The results highlight the broad benefits of vaccination and especially the role of memory T cells in the critical early stages of the infection.

Wahoo!!!!! Congratulations @AnnaGlobig
Fascinating discovery by @Annaglobig! Exhausted CD8 T cells talk to sympathetic nerves in tissues & tumors. Tex cells express ADRB1 and localize near sympathetic nerves, listening to stress hormone noradrenaline. This promotes their dysfunction. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
Beautiful and thoughtful new paper by @jenewu1 . Really proud of this one.
In vitro models of CD8 T cell exhaustion make high-throughput interrogation easy, but can they be used to discover real Tex biology with therapeutic relevance?
Read to find out! In our new work from the @EJohnWherry lab, out now at @SciImmunology, we...

1. ENTER #mRNAvaccines for #pancreaticcancer! Long-term #PDAC survivor story PART3.
"Do #PDACs REALLY have vaccine neoantigens (NAs)"? (aren’t they lowly mutated?)
If each patient = own NAs, how do you vaccinate?
Maybe mRNA? But how?
