Considering the circumstances, one of the best shots in golf in recent memory that will never get the credit it’s due for how spectacular it was.
Imagine standing over this shot knowing if you don't make it, you lose your DP World Tour card... Jordan Gumberg pulled of a miracle eagle to secure his DP World Tour status 👏 #GenesisChampionship | #TourArchive

"Should I buy $VTI or $VOO?" These funds have 88% of overlap by weight Looking at the performance from 1957 to 2023: S&P 500 - 10.45% CAGR Total US Market - 10.48% CAGR Don't overthink too much. I personally like $VTI. What about you?

New Hiskei Mini Driver is a unique club, sort of a combination driving iron/hybrid. Much longer than either and easy to hit straight at it's 42.75" playing length. More here clubmakerreport.substack.com…

“F bombs: More than the number of stars in the sky” Love the recaps!
Another month has come to an end. It was a busy August! Here is my synopsis of the first two thirds of the season. Free golf announced in the recap, so read it all! Approximate steps: 1.9 million Approximate cals burned: 294,000 Hot dogs eaten: 27 Brats eaten: 5 Hottest temp: Heat index of 106 Coldest temp: 31 degrees (actual) Highest wind: 55mph Player states represented: MI, OH, PA, NY, NJ, MA, WI, MN, IA, VA, SC, NC, GA, FL, IL, IN, CA, WA, MO, TN, OK, KY, AL, AZ, UT, CO, MD, CONN, NH, TX, NV, MT Countries represented: USA, Canada, S. Korea, Japan, England, Ukraine Oldest player: 81 Youngest player: 16 Favorite bags: Ping Hoofer Lite, Ping Moonlander, Titleist Players 4 Least favorite bags: Ghost, Ogio, Anything with 14 slots Most balls in bag: 70 (he took nearly 40 out at my request - we lost 4) Least balls in bag: 4 Simple Pleasure: Continuous putting instead of marking 3 footers Pet Peeve: Big groups of dudes that have multiple tee times and have no interest in telling us which players are in which foursome while at the bag drop Favorite Kind of Loops: Father/Son loops on the Straits, One balls (very rare) Least Favorite Kind of Loops: Forecaddie for high handicappers, Grinding Ryder Cups Joyous Discovery: Peach Course Record electrolyte drink Longest Day on Property: 14 hours 😩 Includes wait time between loops and 6 hour shotgun in second loop. As a bonus, my car went to the junkyard in the sky on the way home. Weather Struggles: Two days of dense fog with near zero visibility. One of the loops had players with reasonable scoring expectations in the conditions. The other loop I questioned how much longer I can caddie 😜😂 College football teams I'm more likely to root for this season solely based on golfers who went there: Iowa State, Colorado, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana College football teams I'm more likely to root against solely based on golfers who went there: Duke, Notre Dame, Florida State Signs a tip may be good: Players care about bag weight, play ready golf, offer a Gatorade at the turn, don't gripe Signs a tip may be disappointing: Players late to starter table, play in bad weather that others quit in, wear matching shirts, blow a putt past hole and say it didn't break (No, I cannot tell you what to tip - sorry for leading you to water and not letting you drink) Favorite qualities in a golfer: Emotional maturity, realistic expectations, humility, good pace of play Birdies on hole 18: 1 Hole in ones: 0 (though I did see two this month on parallel holes) Most fun shot: Dude got up and down from huge bunker on 6th hole (only fourth time I've seen) Favorite hole to caddie: #13 on the Straits, especially if I have a big hitter that tries to go for the green Least favorite hole to caddie: #8 on Straits (tricky tee shot that takes a while for a lot of players to process instructions for) Thrown clubs: 4 (a guy in August launched his 25 yards - much further than his ball went) F bombs: More than the number of stars in the sky Highest score: A corporate loop where there had to have been a combined 600 shots, but I'm guessing closer to 700 Lowest score: 71 from 6700 yards Amount of money I've given/raised/committed for Sober House: $4300, 2 couches, and 2 E-Bikes (couldn't do it without you) Free golf winner for reaching 25k followers: @MYoung024 Free golf winner for 100 orders on my website: @KSmithWooster Biggest thrill: Meeting a bunch of you Thankful: For good health, provision for my family, new friendships, caddie brothers, beauty of the course, the joy of the Next Shot! I invite you to grab a book or other item from my website. I give away a free round for two at the Straits for every 100 orders. All additional proceeds support the Sober House where I work when Im not on the course. I'm adopting the goal of raising money toward new televisions, a new washer and dryer, and an air fryer for the house. caddietales.co Rooting for you, friends!

During the first two seasons of LIV, I'm pretty sure I covered more tournaments than any other reporter. I felt compelled to be in Indy to witness the end of an era. My dispatch for @Skratch on a tense season finale and what comes next: skratch.golf/news/pro-golf/l…

Really enjoyed this.
Some random observations as we roll into the weekend... - This season has had more weather extremes than any season I've experienced before. Fog is the worst, even though it isn't as hard to walk in as all the other weather factors we face. - Almost every single round I've seen in the low 70s (and a few in the 60s) has been by someone who is very chill. Never an intense or slow player. Take it for what it's worth. - I don't understand golf hats with upside down words. - People on Golf X seem to find value in caddies watching them at the range before the round, but in real life I find a lot of players don't really like it. Makes them nervous. What say you? - Got a new pair of OnCloud shoes. Very pleased. Nothing more important than foot health in extending this career. - Most players don't pay enough attention to distance atrophy as the round progresses. I've grown to believe it's a much bigger thing than a lot of people realize. - Make it make sense: If you loop a full round in really bad weather, you very rarely get tipped well, often less than average. Just interesting. - I get fired up and excited when a group of drunk people are hanging out and cheering for players to make their putts on our 18th hole. I can only imagine the rush it is when two players stroll down 18 tied in a major tourney. - I'll tell my grandkids about the brats, hot dogs, chocolate chip cookies, and granola bars at the Straits. - We carry Course Record hydration drinks now. Big fan! - Caddied 18 in the rain today. I get why players play when they've traveled from somewhere. But I will never play in the rain for the rest of my life. Caddying has broken me in that regard. I guess I shouldn't schedule Ireland trip just yet. Life is good! Grinding out the dog days of the season. Thanks for coming along for the journey! Don't forget, free golf is on the table. Eight more orders of a book, caddie towel, or other items at caddietales.co until I announce a winner.

How awesome is this? “We’re going to the Masters!” Michael Brennan wins the Wyndham Championship and goes to hug his mom. She reminds him that he is now headed to Augusta National. Hugs from mom and dad and gets to go to Augusta. Doesn’t get any better.

BRAND new Si Woo Kim story: There’s a solid Korean bbq restaurant I always go to when I’m in Detroit. I text Si Woo, wanna grab dinner tonight at this place? He goes sure. He searches the name of the restaurant on Google Maps, and without much thinking starts driving. But before it’s too late, he realizes that he’s about to go across the US border into Canada! There was a restaurant under the SAME NAME closer to him in Canada 😂 He doesn’t have a passport, just his wallet. He tries to turn back, but it’s already too late, it’s a one way and there are multiple signs telling him he can’t turn back. He drives to the gate and talks to the officer. I’m driving to dinner with a friend, I came here by accident. The officer goes, ok don’t worry, happens all the time actually. But I can’t let you go back so you have to go across to Canada and then talk to the officers on the other side. He drives across, waits in line for 45min. He finally gets to an officer and he tries to explain. He’s super nervous but tries to explain what happened. He points to his courtesy car and says I’m here for the golf tournament. This officer is not sure what to do so they drive the car to the side and calls another officer… then another… then another until 8!!! officers are surrounding his car and talking to him and each other. They check his cars for weapons, asks him if he has any drugs or weapons, stuff like that and they finally let him thru 😂😂😂. Night ended with a nice kbbq dinner about 90 minutes later than we had originally planned. Never a dull moment with Si Woo. Thanks for the content my guy

If you have a son or daughter who's starting to think that socialism is the answer to our problems, I want you to try something and report back: Next time you talk, don't argue. Sit down, ask these questions, and just listen: - When you say "socialism," do you mean that you want the government to pay for a bigger safety net like in Denmark, or that the government owns the means of production? Because those are two very different countries. - You say the system is rigged. Who rigged it? And who should be handed the power to un-rig it? - Who sets the price of bread? If not a single person or corporation, what causes that price to remain steady or go up? - Can you name a country where the state took ownership of the means of production and the poor got richer? - When borders open or the walls fall down, anywhere in the world, which direction do people run? Towards the free market system or the socialist system? And before the boundaries fell, which way were the guns pointed? - Would you rather be poor today, or rich in 1900? By the way, only one of those has antibiotics. - If you and I make a voluntary trade, and we both walk away happy, who got hurt? - Someone has to decide what your work is worth. Would you rather it be you and the person paying you, or a bureaucrat with an army who has never met either of you? Try having this conversation with your kids this week. Don't argue. Only listen. And if you want, call into my radio show and tell me how it went.

On June 4, 1974, the Cleveland Indians had one of the worst ideas in sports history: 10 cent beer night. A cup of Stroh's went from 65 cents down to a dime. Limit of six per trip to the counter, but you could go back as many times as you wanted. So basically unlimited beer. It gets better. A week earlier these same two teams had brawled in Texas, so Cleveland fans showed up already wanting blood. About 25,000 packed the stadium, way more than expected. By the middle innings it was total chaos. Fans were setting off firecrackers, throwing hot dogs and rocks, and running onto the field. A woman flashed the crowd. A father and son ran out and mooned the outfield. Streakers everywhere. Rangers manager Billy Martin just stood in the dugout blowing kisses at the drunks screaming at him. Then the Indians tied it 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th. That's when it fully broke. A kid ran out and grabbed Rangers outfielder Jeff Burroughs' cap. Burroughs stumbled, and Billy Martin thought his player was getting jumped. So he grabbed a bat and led the entire Rangers team charging onto the field to fight the crowd. Then the Indians came out with bats too, to protect the Rangers from thousands of drunk fans. A reliever got hit in the head with a steel folding chair. The umpire, Nestor Chylak, got cut by a thrown rock and a piece of a stadium seat, and needed stitches. He forfeited the game to Texas on the spot and called the fans "uncontrollable beasts," saying he'd never seen anything like it "except in a zoo." The best part? Cleveland had four more beer nights already scheduled that season.
