If it turns out that Edmonton and Calgary residents are under-represented vs the rest of Alberta by 14% (# of residents per seat), that's far larger than the degree to which Alberta residents are under-represented relative to Quebeckers in the House of Commons.

This paper answers why psychopaths keep ending up as CEOs and politicians.
Researchers mapping out the mechanics of "successful psychopathy" found that corporate capitalism and modern political selection systems are not neutral.
They are hyper-efficient filtering machines.
And they are specifically optimized to select for the exact traits normal people find repulsive.
Normal leaders are constrained by empathy, guilt, and long-term risk aversion. They hesitate when a decision hurts people. They feel the weight of collateral damage.
Psychopaths don’t have an emotional brake pedal.
When a company or a political party needs someone to ruthlessly slash budgets, fire thousands of people, bluff through a crisis, or project absolute, unshakeable confidence, normal candidates stutter.
Psychopaths step right up.
Their superficial charm, pathological fearlessness, and total lack of remorse look identical to "strong leadership" during an interview or a campaign.
They weaponize corporate chaos. While everyone else is panicking, they ruthlessly manipulate the narrative, step over their peers, and take credit for the wins.
They weaponize charisma to dazzle the board or the voters, and hide their emptiness behind a mask of high performance.
The system rewards the ruthlessness, promotes them to the top, and punishes anyone who tries to slow them down with ethics.
The researchers call it a feedback loop of structural decay.
Corporations and governments built an environment where being entirely devoid of a conscience isn't a disqualifier.
It’s a competitive advantage.

“The problem with the distinct society notion in Alberta is that based on actual evidence, it’s preposterous. There simply is no evidence that Alberta is culturally different from the population of any other English-speaking Canadian province.”

and been carried by it myself, is this: a human life can be whole inside an unrepaired world. Not comfortable. Not untroubled. Not spared. Whole. Present to what is actually happening and still capable of love and of action.

It is hard to put into words the extreme sadness, frustration, and anger so many of us are feeling with respect to an alleged group attack on a Muslim woman in front of her 7-year-old child and others in Moncton, New Brunswick.
While trying to enjoy a car parade inside a parking lot, the family were allegedly accosted by a group that yelled obscenities at them, including phrases like “Go back to your country."
Moments after, the group then allegedly beat the Muslim women in front of her son, while her husband was some distance away. He said he found her later on with a swollen face and bloody nose, along with other sign of an alleged assault.
This is a horrifying ordeal and the authorities have been alerted. We are in touch with all parties and urge authorities to investigate all angles of this incident, including hate motivations.
Meanwhile, we urge all elected officials in Atlantic Canada and beyond to denounce the rise in Islamophobia across Canada, and to meet with community members.
We will have more to say as the situation evolves.

Ok. I can’t believe this just happened. My kid is sitting in a beach chair with his hand casually in the sand, & suddenly goes “oh my god look.” He pulls up a girls wedding band. It says “April 16, 2016 I love you.” This was gone FOREVER until now. Seagrove, Fla…Find this lady!

Country Thunder cannot blame City noise rules that it said, two days ago, would not affect their event.
I was really disappointed to see Country Thunder throw the City and music fans under the bus today by falsely blaming our noise rules for cancelling their concert.
They are plainly trying to take advantage of the noise and misinformation around this and bluntly hoping that you wouldn't look at the facts.
Just two days ago, Country Thunder told CityNews that things were going well and that the City’s noise rules would not affect its event.
This and other articles clearly state that the organizers say the changes won't impact their operations. Their own staff are quoted saying, “Our curfew for our festival has always been 11 p.m.”
So blaming a midnight music cutoff for shutting down your concert that ends at 11 p.m. is absolutely bogus.
Country Thunder was never part of the debate over whether the downtown tents should end at 2am or midnight. In fact, the City actually increased the allowable music volume for Country Thunder this year.
Now, two days after saying things were going great, Country Thunder says sound limits made their event impossible.
Those statements do not line up. Even their statements about construction are easily debunked, because our teams have been working really closely with them for months now.
I am not going to speculate about why they made this decision to so grossly mislead the public. I'm not going to speculate on how the massive rain this weekend was going to impact their sales. And I'm not going to speculate on how the news of their headliner Kane Brown pulling out of concerts was going to impact sales.
But it's crystal clear Country Thunder made a business decision that cannot blamed on the city noise rules. I'm really disappointed for ticket holders, workers, vendors, performers, local businesses, and every music fan who planned to attend.
Calgary supports great events, live music, tourism, and jobs. But the facts matter. And organizers need to be honest with their customers and take responsibility for their decisions.

We have an ABSOLUTELY unprecedented attempt by the POTUS to discredit election results in advance (if he doesn't like them) and a GOP Congress that WILL NOT challenge him. Which means we independents must rely on the only other major party our system has to protect us.

Using the notwithstanding clause literally overrides Albertans' rights.
It does so, definitionally, in a way courts would find unreasonable/inconsistent with a free and democratic society.
We should always fight for Albertans' rights. I'm surprised you want govt to limit them.
