Couldn’t find anyone with a positive thing to say about the Corniche chair sculpture. Worst thing for me is how it’s blocked part of one of very few open spots in Ras Beirut where kids could run about safely.

I can hardly imagine anyone who hasn’t seen this photograph. But it was taken on this day in 2000. I cannot believe the photo is 26 years old now. The boy in the photograph was Fares Odeh. He was just 14 years old. Ten days after this image was captured, Fares went out again to throw stones at Israeli tanks, seeking to avenge the killing of his 17-year-old cousin. An Israeli sniper shot him in the neck, killing him. And there is another chilling detail to this photograph. The photo changed Israeli tank doctrine. In August 2001, The Jerusalem Post quoted an anonymous tank doctrinist saying tank personnel were now instructed to fire upon rock-throwers.

Hi, I'm free. Beat up but fine. Police stole my phone. Settlers punched me in the face several times, likely broke @AdeleShoko's wrist and gave @the_andrey_x a concussion. They threatened to shoot us with an assault rifle over and over. Will tell the full story later, but for now, I just want to be clear about what happened. We witnessed two settlers locking a military gate in Umm al-Khair, blocking the only way to more than twenty Palestinian communities: trapping families inside, preventing students from reaching school and workers from their jobs, blocking delivery of food and access to ambulances, etc. It's a crime that the military has this ability at all--but last night, we discovered that random settler terrorists also have the key. We confronted them and began asking questions on camera, and they nearly murdered us for it. When the police finally arrived, they arrested Andrey and me and charged us with assault. The gate is still locked.

A far more apt description of Gadi Eisenkot than @LucyWilliamson ‘s “centrist” and “left leaning”.
Gadi Eisenkot is the father of the so-called Dahyeh Doctrine used against southern suburbs of Beirut in '06: disproportionate retaliation and destruction of civilian infrastructure to establish deterrence. Then used in Gaza.

Watch this. Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists. “We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1

Replying to @BBCJLandale
@BBCJLandale on @BBCr4today this morning called Israel's assault on Hebron robust and understandable, quoted its description of bulldozing Palestinian homes (collective punishment = a war crime) as destroying "terrorist infrastructure", "Palestinian buildings."
What details of this attack have been independently confirmed?

The idiot’s guide to states – and their ‘rights’: 1. States exist. Some 200 of them. 2. States are the political arrangement in which a people express their self-determination. That arrangement can and does change. 3. States enjoy rights, but only against each other. They have the right, for example, not to face unprovoked aggression from another state. 4. No state has some enduring, abstract “right” to exist. Otherwise bad ones like apartheid South Africa would be unreformable. 5. Peoples, by contrast, do have a right to exist. That’s why states that commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide are so gravely violating international law. Because they are violating a people’s right to exist. 6. When people argue Israel has a “right” to exist, they are trying to dupe you into believing international law is fine with apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide. It isn’t. For obvious reasons, international law prefers the rights of peoples over those of states. Otherwise, no state could ever be illegitimate. Its rights would trump those of the people it rules over. 7. When someone refuses to agree that Israel has a “right” to exist, they are not being antisemitic, whatever the media keeps telling you. They are upholding international law: the precedence of peoples’ rights over those of states. 8. The claim that Israel has a “right” to exist is not what it seems. It’s really the claim that the current reality of extreme inequality between Israelis and Palestinians be set in stone. It’s the diabolical claim that Israel has a right to commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinian people.

Worth highlighting: 89 v 0 op-eds! Critics given acres to make bad faith attacks against motion; NO-ONE allowed to outline the facts that informed Green members’ vote. Context 100% erased; ZiR vote explained purely as product of hatred/naivety. nitter.cf/martasser/status/21070…
Israel enthusiasts often denounce @BBCNews for being pro-Palestinian. So we'd expect its journalists to rejoice in the Green Party conference vote to classify Zionism as a form of racism. Well, Have I Got News for You... bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6jd…

Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. It is like reporting on the Civil Rights movement in the US and only interviewing outraged Whites @bbclaurak @bbcnickrobinson @JustinOnWeb @BBCr4today
“[Saying] ‘Zionism is racism’ is offensive, it’s antisemitic and it’s dangerous” Broadcaster Jo Coburn says she “watched in horror” as the Green Party passed its motion on Zionism and criticises leader Zack Polanski's defence in his #BBCLauraK interview bbc.co.uk/news/live/c64gv8k2…

What is the status of the Palestinian citizens in Israel? Separate and Unequal. Here is a list of resources that illustrates their inferior status in a regime of Jewish supremacy: 🧵 1/n
This is utter nonsense, the Arabs are fully equal citizens. The nation-state law regulates the flag and anthem and simply declares that Israel cannot be transformed into a non-Jewish State because it is the only jewish state on earth.

Hello @annabotting, You are the @SkyNews presenter here. Did you challenge @adamboultonTABB when he accused Sally Rooney of taking an 'anti-Jewish' stance? If not, why not?
Boulton "she, in common with a lot of people in Ireland is taking a very strong pro Palestine & I have to say anti Israel & anti Jewish stance" Adam, can you provide evidence that Sally Rooney is taking an anti Jewish stance? Or are you in fact lying to smear critics of Israel?

This is, as ever, so eloquently put by @AlnaouqA I urge everyone to watch.
"For me as a Palestinian, Zionism is racism. Zionism is genocidal. Zionism is sociopathic. Zionism is all about ethnic cleansing for a group of people at the expense of another. If I were not Palestinian, if I just happened to be a Jewish person, I would have lived with all my rights granted. No one would have questioned me, no one would have come after my land, my country, to kill us. So if that is not racism, then what is? Ever since I came to the UK, I've been hearing some bizarre ideas: 'Zionism means different things to different people'. Zionism means only one thing. And it means one thing to the people that it was manifested at. Zionism means genocide and death." Ahmed Alnaouq, who lost almost his entire extended family in a single air-strike, including 13 children, speaks at this morning's Greens4Palestine press conference./1
