This city is so much fun when everyone's having fun
The energy in NYC when everyone in the city is bought in on something, be it the Knicks, Halloween, Marathon etc. is just unmatched. So special. So fun.

Happy New York marathon day! One of the best days of the year in the city. Good luck to all the runners and thanks to the workers behind the marathon 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Read this message from Mada Masr as it fights to continue doing journalism. Global support and solidarity now is more critical than ever.
Dear friends and readers of Mada, We have been silent over the past two days, in shock at what happened in court on Tuesday but also in an attempt to organize ourselves for what looks like it will be an ongoing battle.

im four beers deep and i need everyone to understand that wikipedia is the last good thing. millions of strangers agreed to write down everything for free and then argue about citations forever. no ads. no paywall. this should not exist and it does and i'm crying about it

I’m probably being that person, but that flyover in DC right now was very scary. Essentially no heads up that it would be happening and it sounded like a regular commercial plane (AF1 essentially is). I don’t mind jets but I actually thought a plane was going to crash

Those of us who lived through 9/11 don’t find this shit entertaining. At all.

Pilots at DCA weren’t too happy about the flyover over D.C. this evening. “How many more fly-bys is he doing?” one pilot asked, according to @theATCapp recordings. “Hopefully that’s the last,” an air traffic controller replied. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/…

Murphy, briefed on Iran plans. “Their plan is insane. It will lead to devastating escalation and the likely destruction of our commitment to the rule of law.” (Arguably in tatters already)
Trump is reportedly planning to restart war with Iran after the election. Some of us have been briefed on the war plan. And while I cannot disclose any details, I can say this: the plan is insane. It will not achieve objectives and will set off a new cycle of escalation.

Definitely didn’t see this before just watching Air Force One fly right over us super low and having a mini heart attack along with everyone else on the street.
We are anticipating an Air Force One flyover of the White House for Halloween around 5:45 PM tonight.

We’re at that stage of the Presidency where Air Force One is just buzzing Washington (and they have closed down all the flights so it can).

Air Force one flyover, crazy low for a 747 I’m used to flyovers in DC but this one scared me. Seeing a passenger jet flying low overhead here would be quite a bad sign! Took a sec to realize what it was

That’s literally what the US said in Feb 2026 - the U.S. is incapable of controlling what will happen, how long this will continue for, or how extensive its impacts will be.

Wednesday's Weather Rating: 9/10 The legendary run continues!! High temperatures reach the lower 60s with comfortable dew points, a light breeze and periods of sunshine. Clouds increase a bit this afternoon, but otherwise the vibes are excellent - again!!

👀👀👀👀
NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions. More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety. The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties. The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.” I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.
