No more hd for France
BREAKING: France just voted to tax the internet.
French lawmakers approved a tax of €0.055 (5.5 cents) for every gigabyte of data that companies like Netflix and YouTube send to French users. It’s a tax on the companies, not users directly, but the cost could get passed on to subscribers.
The vote was 11 to 10, with only 35 of 577 lawmakers present. Supporters say it could raise up to €10 billion a year. The French government opposed it, warning it would hit smaller French companies hardest; VLC says it would cost it over €1 million a year.
What kind of a joke is this. Do they not require a quorum to pass a new tax.
Just 11 out of 577 were able to pass this law by just 1 vote 🤷♂️

A ‘hello world’ milestone for Project Suncatcher 🚀
After launching our prototype satellite a few weeks ago, we’ve now successfully sent a command up to orbit, booted up the TPU, ran the prompt, and received our first complete response back on earth - a haiku!
The Agentic Web is no longer just an idea; it’s becoming a real thing! 🤖
At IAB Tech Lab’s International Summit in London (Nov 5), we’re diving into how autonomous agents are transforming how we discover, distribute, and earn money. Get ready for some cool technical demos and panels on:
• AI agents working together to make and carry out programmatic deals using RTB protocols (think of it as true machine-to-machine advertising)
• How conversational interfaces and autonomous agents are shaking up media discovery and making it easier to reach people
• What this means for CTV, privacy, identity, and how we measure things when software takes over the entire ad lifecycle
• We’ll be live, showing you the infrastructure, standards, and safety measures the industry needs for agent-driven workflows
This is the session where the industry will stop just talking about agents and start showing how they actually work together.
If your system still relies on a human to make decisions, this week is the perfect time to rethink your approach.
6 days to go! 🤖 As programmatic evolves join our technical session on how AI agents will negotiate, trade, and execute ad transactions via real-time bidding protocols. See how machine-to-machine advertising works in practice! okt.to/DZxXq9
CTV is growing up… but treating it like a silo is leaving money on the table. 📺
On Nov 12, Nadav Perry (Ogury’s CRO, Americas) shares how to fix it. The former Taboola VP who built their global brands & agencies business — and Google/YouTube product strategy lead in EMEA — breaks down unifying CTV with cross-channel audience strategies for stronger full-funnel results.
Stop isolating your streaming spend.

AI agents are only as smart as the data they can access—securely, at scale, and across the ecosystem.
That’s why I’m looking forward to hearing from Christian Carlsson, VP of Solutions – Connectivity at LiveRamp, at the IAB Tech Lab Agentic Web Summit (November 5, 2026, London).
Carlsson has spent years driving LiveRamp’s technical rollout and adoption with publishers, platforms, and partners (especially across Europe). With a background in strategic consulting for major organizations, he’s focused on making complex, enterprise-grade data solutions work in the real world.
LiveRamp’s network is enabling autonomous agents to plan, activate, measure, and optimize with governed, high-fidelity data instead of fragmented signals.
If you want a practical look at how data collaboration infrastructure is powering the next wave of AI-driven marketing outcomes, this session is worth your time.

🚨 Still paying for CTV ads that never actually played? IAS’s Gautam Babbar, Amazon Ads’ Vinod Panicker & IAB Tech Lab’s Jill Wittkopp reveal how OM SDK finally stops device spoofing, background TVs & binge fraud — Nov 12 NYC #IWantMyCTV
Device spoofing, binge watching and HDMI-connected devices all raise questions about what advertisers are actually paying for and how to measure it consistently. At #IWantMyCTV learn from IAS and Amazon Ads on how OM SDK helps address these challenges: okt.to/bTgkqF
AI agents + media budgets = interesting until they aren’t.
Alkimi tested leading models with real briefs and is demoing the human-in-the-loop controls that keep agentic trades safe and bounded.

🚀 Bidding just got a lot closer to the impression.
At the IAB Tech Lab International Summit (Nov 5, London | #AgenticWeb), Damian Naglak, CTO / Head of Engineering at Bedrock Platform, is sharing real campaign data on what happens when you embed the bidder inside the exchange.
Damian leads the team that shipped the industry’s first containerized DSP bidder running on Index Exchange’s Index Cloud. By co-locating decisioning, they dropped per-request costs to near zero, eliminated QPS throttling, and let the system evaluate every impression on a deal instead of a sampled slice. The result: complete supply visibility, stronger win rates, lower effective CPMs, and reliable 100% deal delivery.
He’s also building AI agents on top of those millisecond-critical bidding systems — turning supply discovery, pacing, and campaign ops from manual dashboards into continuous, assisted workflows. Features that once took a week now ship in a day, while still handling real money in real time.
If you care about the future of programmatic infrastructure and agentic buying, this session is the one to catch.

🔥 CTV publishers are still guessing who is buying their inventory.
The data only flows one way — and it’s costing yield.
At #IWantMyCTV, Index Exchange, Viant, and Philo break down how two-way transparency turns the demand firehose into a precision straw for better ad pods, smarter frequency management, and higher revenue.
Don’t miss “The Firehose and the Straw” — Nov 12, NYC.
Speakers:
• Catherine Cho (Lead Product Manager, Index Exchange) — Builds Index’s streaming TV products, focused on ad podding, private marketplaces, and CTV best practices.
• Keith Petri (SVP of Data, Identity + Supply, Viant / CEO, Lockr) — Drives identity, supply quality, and privacy-first data collaboration to improve addressability and transparency in CTV.
• Kyle Turner (Director of Product Strategy, Ads, Philo) — Leads ad product strategy at Philo, including pause ads and two-way signal transparency between buyers and publishers.

I was lucky enough to see Sir Patrick Stewart on stage twice in NYC, once alongside the brilliant Sir Ian McKellen in Waiting for Godot and again in Macbeth in 2008. Absolutely masterful both times. I’ll never forget those performances.
One hell of an actor. Rest in peace, Captain Picard. 🖖
Breaking News: Patrick Stewart, who found acclaim as a Shakespearean actor before making a career pivot that would bring him his greatest fame, has died at 86. He achieved pop-culture stardom with major roles in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “X-Men.” nyti.ms/4zc4Ka8

One thing I’ve noticed over my 25+ years in digital advertising: We’re often much quicker to criticize a solution’s imperfections than to acknowledge the problem it’s actually trying to solve.
It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and point out what’s missing, what could go wrong, or why something isn’t quite right. It’s considerably harder to roll up your sleeves and build something that moves the industry forward.
As Voltaire famously popularized, “The perfect is the enemy of the good.”
Constructive criticism is essential. Debate makes solutions better. But demanding perfection before embracing progress is a great way to ensure nothing ever changes.
We need more builders, more contributors to ideas, greater collaboration, fewer armchair critics, and a little more appreciation for progress over perfection.
Recently I heard several ideas about how advertising industry can address browser restrictions being placed o common services publishers use for monetization, specifically the latest release of Apple's Safari browser. They ranged from building a browser to well 'agentic' solves this. Here is my take.
Ok. I mean what else can you expect from California democrats - more tax and fees.
It’s become a joke
NEW: Xavier Becerra tells me he's preparing a new tax on California's wealthy. He'll also seriously consider new fees for drivers and corporations and will likely remove the CEO of the embattled High-Speed Rail if elected governor of California.
