What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

“Anakin, you are on the council, but we do not grant you the rank of Master. The problem is that you’ve been watching too much Saved by the Bell and having sleepovers instead of studying for the spelling bee.”

Like Gen X can shit on these films all they want. They’re one of the standing cultural touchstones left until you can reliably make interesting culture again.
Thus this debate with Matt Walsh will cycle on the same 5 takes forever.
Oh, but 1930s and 1960s uniforms are ok?
Replying to @WayneS0L0
It had a fucking 1950's Americana diner.
From the United States of America.
And the short-order cook knew intricate details of obscure galactic weaponry the Jedi Archives didn't.
Everything about the movie was stupid.

the reason millenial nerds feel a compulsion to shit on the star wars prequels, despite the obvious cinematic brilliance, is they are played entirely earnest. there is no jim from the office winking at the camera, which makes them excruciating to the irony poisoned millenial mind

The Washington Post reveals that World Trade Center security executive Rick Rescorla rescued nearly 2,700 people during the September 11 attacks before dying in the attacks.
He is certainly the hero of the day, as hundreds of survivors step forward to corroborate that he continuously went back into the building to pull more people out.
No, we never fell
Tomorrow we're releasing a full UATX course for free: all 19 lectures of Professor Isabella Reinhardt's Rise and Fall of Ancient Rome, filmed in class with our students.
It runs from Rome's mythical founding to the Third Century Crisis. It ends on a question the class spent a whole session arguing about: did Rome ever really fall?

I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says Muslims have genocıded Christians out of the Middle East.
“What happened to the Christians? There were millions and millions of Christians. Those were all Christian countries. Egypt was a Christian country. Libya was a Christian country. Algeria was a Christian country. Iraq was a Christian country. Lebanon was a Christian country in 1948.”

You can’t enjoy anything anymore.
Trunk or Treat in Frisco Square this weekend.
Packed wall to wall, but not with Texans. This is what every public event looks like now.

Indians don't want to assimilate, they want to turn America into India
It's less violent than Islam so it seems like less of a threat but make no mistake
It's conquest by other means
I'm proud to lead 256 bipartisan cosponsors in a resolution to designate July as Indian American Heritage Month.
Generations of Indian Americans have helped build and strengthen our country. It's time we honor their contributions and celebrate their enduring legacy.

If someone asks you how much a single family's life is worth to the United States Navy, tell them the exact price: ten million dollars of steel.
On April 29, 1975, as Saigon fell, a tiny two-seat wooden-and-fabric Cessna plane with almost no fuel left circled desperately above the American aircraft carrier USS Midway.
Inside that tiny cockpit, a father named Major Buang-Ly had crammed his wife and five small children, including a baby. He scribbled a note on a map, wrapped it around his pistol so it would not blow into the ocean, and dropped it onto the carrier deck.
A young American sailor picked up the crumpled paper and ran it up to Captain Lawrence Chambers.
The note read: "Can you move these helicopter to the other side, I can land on your runway, I can fly 1 hour more. Please rescue me. Major Buang, Wife and 5 child."
The flight deck of the USS Midway was completely jammed from bow to stern with military helicopters. A Cessna has no tailhook to catch carrier wires, and its pilot had never landed on a ship in his life.
By every military regulation, Captain Chambers had been in command for only five weeks. Throwing millions of dollars of U.S. government aircraft into the sea without permission from Washington could end his career in a court-martial.
Chambers looked up at the tiny plane circling in the wind with five children inside. He did not call an accountant in Washington.
"Clear the deck," the captain ordered.
Hundreds of young American sailors in yellow and green jerseys ran to the edge of the ship, put their shoulders against massive Huey helicopters, and shoved ten million dollars worth of machinery straight off the cliff into the South China Sea.
Captain Chambers turned the giant carrier into the wind at twenty-five knots. The tiny Cessna came down, bounced once on the steel runway, and rolled to a safe stop with feet to spare.
When the cockpit door opened and five small children stepped out onto the deck, three thousand American sailors roared so loud it drowned out the engines, and immediately passed around a hat to collect cash for the family's new life in America.
When the math says a child's life is too expensive, an American throws the math into the ocean.

One of the biggest reasons that Han Solo and Indiana Jones work so well as characters is that it's basically just Harrison Ford playing himself.
I once heard Mark Hamill talk about STAR WARS at a panel, and he said during A New Hope they shot the film out of order, so he was extremely particular about the continuity of the movie. While filming, he realized in the previous scene they shot much earlier they were just in the wet garbage compactor, but now, moments later, his hair would be dry. So he leaned over to Harrison Ford, worried about how his hair should actually be wet, stating mistakes like that would take people completely out of the movie.
Harrison Ford turned to him and dryly said, "Look, kid, if they're watching this movie and looking at your hair we're all in big trouble."

No more anticipation of classmates changing over the summer, no more spring fever, no more first day of school fit
Your kids won't experience memories like your childhood, that will be replaced with a bland montage of tests and toil. Nothing new or beautiful will be produced.

I'd actually argue that horror is the most Christian genre of film. Obviously that's not true of the torture porn stuff -- films in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre tradition -- but supernatural horror is often subtly Christian and sometimes very explicitly Christian. It's the only category of film where the supernatural, demons, spirits, exorcisms, the Church, etc, are consistently taken seriously. The only genre where the priest might actually be the good guy. Horror has deep roots in Christian thought and tradition.

Murfreesboro TN looks like a foreign nation. Scale that nationwide. We need to remove them before violence erupts. We are a ticking time bomb💔Please remove the migrants, refugees, visa holders, illegals. We cannot absorb the numbers that are here. Many of them are not assimilating. The scales have tipped.
Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion. They ignored fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility. They were told it would lead to this and they didn't listen.
I pray that France, a beautiful country of amazing people, will stop this madness before more of its landmarks burn.
And I hope Americans are paying attention. This is the future congressional Democrats seek for your country.
