Does a Lab govt under @andyburnham which claims to support so strongly the Eur Conv of Human Rights (which also underpins our EU treaty) really want to impose this #ConversionBill which breaches its duties of clear law, safeguarding family life & freedom of belief & expression?
“I think this bill is ripe for a declaration of incompatibility. And what an embarrassment that would be for the signature centre piece of human rights legislation to run a risk of incompatibility. Particularly on Article 8 when the first poor, unfortunate parents, I suspect mothers, are arrested under this bill”.
Yesterday, at the first oral evidence session at the Joint Committee on the draft Conversion Practices Bill in Westminster, the panel was asked how the bill will interact with the European Convention on Human Rights.
Watch criminal barrister Dennis Kavanagh @Jebadoo2 set out how the bill will be incompatible with Article 7, 8, 9, 10 and 14 of the ECHR.

How much public money have @bristolgreen wasted by unlawfully hounding women exercising their democratic right to put questions to the Green-led council?
Report on the win for @WomenOfWessex members Dr Phoebe Beedell and Wendy Stephenson
"When Beedell challenged council leader Tony Dyer about the placards, he told her: “This is a democracy … councillors have the right to decide whether those statements are offensive to them and how they want to respond.”

Shame on Bristol City Council, particularly those @bristolgreen councillors who staged a walk out when a question on the safety and needs of women was asked of them. They have neither the maturity nor the respect for others, required to fulfil their elected role!

Well done @hanrmiller of @BBCBristol for reporting this crazy story when it first erupted - about women being banned from @BristolCouncil public meetings by Green Party Councillors
Gender critical campaigners were excluded from the Bristol city council chamber after being accused of 'intimidating' two Green Party councillors.
Now the council admits its process was 'inadequate':

The former MO at @BristolCouncil who oversaw the banning of these 2 female Councillors has moved to @BCPCouncil
@BristolCouncil has issued a statement apologising unreservedly to Ms Stephenson & Dr Beedell for the distress & any reputational harm caused.

This is not legitimate ‘self-expression’, it’s a male power-play designed to embarrass & humiliate women. That is clear as day.
The fact that the @UniofOxford and its Chancellor @WilliamJHague apparently can neither see that nor stop it is puzzling and extremely disappointing.

An apology from @BristolCouncil - but the fact that a council banned women from its public meetings for expressing the lawfully correct and entirely unremarkable view that single-sex spaces should be provided on the basis of sex, is deeply worrying.

WOW! Wonderful WoW!
You can’t silence these women!!
@BristolCouncil must have known they were in the wrong and in danger of losing big time at Judicial review.
Unreserved apologies and vindication! Brava 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
🚨We are delighted to announce that two of our members, who took legal action after challenging @BristolCouncil, have concluded their judicial review.

Replying to @BBCBristol
This was a big mistake by @BristolCouncil. Specifically by the Head of Legal, now at @BCPCouncil

By pretending not to know the difference between freedom of expression and allowing an overbearing man parading his fetish in public requiring others to submit to his harassment of young women, @hilda_beastoxf @UniofOxford show how little regard they genuinely pay to safeguarding
🚨 NEW: “St Hilda’s College takes seriously the duty to protect and promote freedom of expression within the law.”
The response three female former Oxford University students received - after complaining about male biochemistry lecturer Matt Rattley wearing large prosthetic breasts at work.
“We urge you to take immediate action,” they wrote to the college’s principal, Dame Sarah Springman, in May, raising concerns about sexual harassment.
A parent and a member of the public who separately raised concerns say they received no reply.
Asked how the complaints were handled, both Oxford University and St Hilda’s said they had nothing further to add to their previous statements.
I’ve published the correspondence and their responses in [Un]Captured.

This whole thing is grotesque. Imagine a distinguished college facilitating one man's fetish at the expense of everyone else's dignity. @UniofOxford

How many women & girls could have been protected from sexual assault and covert filming if Sport England had listened to years of concerns — and applied the Equality Act 2010 properly?
“The original changing village plans were compliant with @Sport_England advice. @BrightonHoveCC said the new designs are based on @EHRC guidance, which says single sex provision should be based on biological sex.”
Finally, the Sport England recommendation of only offering mixed-sex changing villages is being overturned.
Brighton Council has now amended its plans for the Withdean Pool to include single-sex changing cubicles (hopefully in separate areas, though unclear). Original mixed-sex design was unsafe for women and girls.
Thank you for listening to residents’ feedback, @BrightonHoveCC.

Why did @mariecgoldman only listen to transactivists as a member of the pre-legislative scrutiny committee on the COnversion Practice bill?

Is it usual for a member of a scrutiny committee to hear only one side of oral evidence then leave?
Do both sides not deserve the respect of listening to them?
Was she bored, have an appointment, need a long lunch hour.
We should be informed.

.@TrinityOxford, can you reassure me, as a graduate (matriculated 1990), that this man was not permitted to attend the research day dressed in a sexualised way that mocks & demeans women? This constitutes sexual harassment.
If @UniofOxford doesn't care about the welfare of /
If “bringing your whole self to work” involves strapping on enormous, fake, ‘comedy’ breasts, a strap-on cock & balls or two silicone buttocks outside your trousers, might I suggest you don’t?
Your freedom to “express yourself” does not supersede a student’s right to a serious & focused education, especially if you object, YOU become “a bigot”.
Absolutely absurd situation.
Go nuts in a nightclub, ffs.

Why have you done nothing about this @UniofOxford @hilda_beastoxf?
You are making fools of yourselves. Do you seriously think this man's need to wear rubber tits is more important than your female students and staff's right not to be harassed? His behaviour is pure mysoginy.
