At @ESAFFUG, we continue to call for a shift away from hazardous agrochemicals in agriculture, which pose serious risks to human health, soil fertility and ecosystems.
During the #NAF2026, this call was reinforced as small-scale farmers were urged to embrace agroecological farming practices and inputs that restore soil health, improve food quality and promote sustainable food production.

Indigenous seeds are built for our soils, our climates and our cultures. Saving, sharing and selling these seeds should never be criminalised. But do the existing and emerging seed laws in East Africa uphold these rights? What does the AU Policy on Farmer-Managed Seed Systems mean for the region?

New week, renewed energy and a call to turn recognition into action!
As @UCOBAC_ โs Executive Director Ms Frances Birungi (@frances_birungi) reminds us, celebrating rural women must go beyond words. It means securing their land rights.
Secure land rights strengthen food security, climate resilience and womenโs economic empowerment.

Would you spray your farm with a chemical Europe has banned? ๐ค Many Ugandan farmers do, without knowing it.
Of the 115 pesticide active ingredients registered in Uganda, 55 are highly hazardous, and most of those are not approved in the EU countries that export them โ ๏ธ Only 31% of our farmers have ever been trained to handle them safely.
Tomorrow, 22 October, the Agroecology Collaborative, convened by CEFROHT, hosts a National Dialogue on phasing out highly hazardous pesticides and launches the Joint National HHPs Strategy for Uganda ๐ฑ
