Byron Donalds publicly stated that naturalized citizenship is a constitutional requirement to serve in Congress, and that if Ilhan Omar does not meet that requirement, she must be removed from office. Donalds framed it as non-negotiable: congressional eligibility rules exist for a reason and are not optional.
This is about equal application of the law. If any other member of Congress failed to meet a basic eligibility requirement, the question of removal would not be controversial.
