Mac folks, the open-source KiCad autorouter now builds on macOS 15 and 26 with a Metal backend (huge thanks to Chris Hemingway). TraceMaker 0.11 also adds a run report that explains every connection, plus a new docs site. 177/177 on a Teensy audio board. What should I route next?

The elites dont want you to know but you can just build your own LOCAL Altium Concord Pro...
ECAD management for Altium, KiCad, and Eagle in a single manager that also handles export, rendering, and material libraries for CAD
Thanks to @QVHenkel for the open-source model :)

Who needs an internet connection to have AI design PCBs? The open-source WholeBoard now searches for any local models running and uses them. Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM, Jan, Strata. One click and it's designing boards at $0 per million tokens. What are you running locally?

Electrostatic discharges can easily damage sensitive semiconductors.
An 8 kV zap ramps to 30 A in under a nanosecond. Put the TVS on a 12 mm stub with a long run to ground, and that ~10 nH adds ~390 V arrives that at the chip.
A Diode right at the connector: ~47 V.

Should a USB-C connector's shell go straight to ground, or through an RC (1 MΩ ‖ 4.7 nF)? Open boards are split.
I hit both with a simulated 8 kV zap. Either way, 30 A lands in your ground. The cap is just left holding 249 V.
Answer: straight, unless the box is earthed. 🧵

Your 100 nF decoupling cap stops being a capacitor at higher frequencies.
It filters best around 16 MHz. Above that, the inductance of its pads and vias takes over and it acts like an inductor. By 1 GHz it's about 200× worse than at its best.

1/16 You can see inside a circuit board without cutting it open.
Send a fast step into a USB port and listen for the echoes. Every bump is a spot where the layout changes, and its delay says where.
That's TDR, radar for PCBs. I simulated it on a real Raspberry Pi board 🧵
Agentic PCB: enable the KiCad API so your agent could edit the board live. Using kicad-python it could then move footprints, change nets, and adjust copper directly in the running editor (and run ERC and DRC checks with kicad-cli).
Agentic schematic work in KiCad is still limited - it seems there is no live schematic API, so symbol and connection changes require editing the .kicad_sch file or driving the GUI. “Update PCB from Schematic” also has to be triggered manually.
