I respectfully call your urgent attention to the deeply disturbing public conduct of Mr. #Habtamu_Challa_Gurmu (@Habtishgreat), an Ethiopian immigrant reportedly residing in Alabama, whose latest social media activity I regard as a cruel mockery of the suffering of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians and Amhara civilians following the reported massacres in #Arsi, #Ethiopia . At a time when families are mourning innocent victims, this individual continues to target and harass diaspora members who are expressing grief and demanding justice. The accompanying videos reportedly document mass burials, collective mourning, and the forced renunciation of Christianity, including the removal and cutting of religious necklaces worn by Ethiopian Orthodox Christians. These disturbing accounts raise grave concerns about religious persecution, violent Islamic extremism, and the potential civilizational erasure of one of the world's oldest Christian communities. Rather than showing compassion for the victims, Mr. Challa continues to direct hostile commentary toward individuals discussing these atrocities, including identifiable members of the Ethiopian Orthodox and Amhara diaspora. His latest post, reproduced in the attached screenshot, names diaspora members while commenting on the controversy surrounding these killings. Although the screenshot does not independently establish that he celebrates the massacres or forced conversions, his repeated targeting of grieving individuals warrants serious scrutiny.
His history on X also raises concerns about repeated conduct following account suspensions. His principal account, @Habtishgreat, was reportedly suspended for several weeks before recently becoming active again. Other previously reported suspended handles include @HabtishGurmu (also written @habtishgurmu) and @gurmuchalla. He has also reportedly participated in X Spaces through @MusicdonebyAi (Ethio-Music). I respectfully request that X Safety examine whether these accounts are associated and whether their activity constitutes repeated violations of its harassment and privacy policies. I am particularly concerned by his reported pattern of harassment, previous claims concerning access to Americans' Social Security numbers and other sensitive personal information, and his alleged employment in services involving vulnerable individuals in Alabama. I respectfully ask Alabama authorities, federal law enforcement agencies, Christian organizations, and X Safety to examine the documented statements, investigate any credible threats or unlawful conduct, and determine whether his activities present a danger to targeted individuals or their families. How can any society committed to religious liberty remain indifferent when people mourning the deaths of fellow Christians report being subjected to intimidation and harassment? Religious freedom, human dignity, and the protection of innocent civilians must never be negotiable. The persecution of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians must end, and those who threaten or intimidate grieving communities must be held accountable under the law.

Focus is on the Su-35 batch that Ethiopia is receiving but whatâs more significant is the S-400 system that Ethiopia is also receiving. Firstly there is absolutely no way that Ethiopia could have concluded that deal without Billions in UAE funding to make it happen. Secondly none of Ethiopiaâs immediate neighbours or the multitude of Armed groups within Ethiopia have any aerial capabilities to warrant deploying such an expensive system. This is an aggressive move by the UAE to shift the balance of power between Egypt and its now firmly established regional proxy Ethiopia.

Instead, his focus stays fixed on the Borana-Garre border clash so the conversation remains centered on Kenya and external actors.
Meanwhile, his protĂ©gĂ©s are deployed in classic Potemkin fashion to falsely pin the crimes on âTsimdoâ (distant actors). Clearly, the plan is to do anything to keep the spotlight off him and his own ultra-radical Oromo elites & political friends or affiliates. That is selective outrage by design. Given his background and long history of rhetoric that has preceded deadly unrest over the years, his silence on Arsi is meant to keep him free and clear while directing others to look elsewhere. When the pattern points toward forces and rhetoric linked to ultra-radical Oromo ideology (whatevet it is), his commentary disappears. When it can be framed as someone elseâs problem, the posts appear.

Kenyan security and judicial institutions must rein in individuals inciting and exacerbating communal conflict in southern Ethiopia.
Following the latest outbreak of fighting between the Borana and Gari clans, some Kenyan political and media figures have been circulating extremely dangerous messages, in some cases more inflammatory than those coming from individuals directly involved in the conflict on the Ethiopian side. They have also reportedly engaged in fundraising campaigns to procure and send weapons to the warring parties.
Kenya is already feeling the effects of the violence, with thousands of people fleeing across the border in search of humanitarian protection. Unless such incitement is contained, it will not only intensify the conflict inside Ethiopia but also risk spilling over into Kenya, where members of the affected communities live on both sides of the border, including in Nairobi.
I therefore appeal to Kenyan security agencies to investigate those inciting violence and the relevant judicial authorities to prosecute offenders in accordance with the law before the situation escalates and causes even greater harm to both countries.
