Sudan has voiced its opposition to the nomination of the UAE's Lana Nusseibeh for UN Secretary-General.
Sudanese officials questioned her independence, citing her past denials of UN findings that the UAE supported the RSF militarily.

The UAE has successfully colonized #Ethiopia!
How does an oil-rich nation of under 1M colonize 120M people?
As John Pilger noted, modern neo-colonial powers don't send troops to occupy a country โthey use debt as a weapon to trap poor nations in a permanent cycle of repayment.
Ethiopia, as a founding member of the United Nations attaches great importance to the office of the UN Secretary-General. Ethiopia therefore welcomes the candidacy of @Lana_Nusseibeh. Her distinguished service, strong commitment to multilateralism, and extensive diplomatic experience further strengthen an already impressive field of women candidates.

๐จThe African Union, headquartered in Addis Ababa, is quick to condemn Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabiaโs infrastructure, for instance, yet falls conspicuously silent when its host country facilitates the bombing of civilian infrastructure in neighboring #Sudan, another AU member state.
Apparently, the African Union has a voice when it suits its interests, and selective deafness when it comes to holding its own host accountable. No wonder so many Africans dismiss the organization as a hoax, preaching continental unity while practicing double standards.
#Burundi chairs the @_AfricanUnion. Wake up, President รvariste Ndayishimiye! Or must Sudan retaliate first for you to unleash the AUโs favourite โBoth sides must exercise restraintโ statement?
For all the #Ethiopia|ns euphoria on this news, they forget that Russia also built 21 Su-35S for Egypt ($2 billion contract) before the deal was effectively canceled due to U.S. pressure and Egyptian operational concerns regarding the jet's radar and electronic warfare systems.

#ERITREA #Ethiopia #HOA #RedSeaTensions
U.S. AFRICOM has described Eritrea as one of the only stable countries in the troubled Red Sea region. According to an article in ADF, the magazine of the U.S. military in Africa, #Eritrea is the only country in the Horn of Africa that has maintained peace, underscoring its readiness to contribute to joint efforts for peace and stability in the region.
#Russia's publicity stunt, nothing else here!!
Lavrov must've been high on some shit when he said #Eritrea & #Ethiopia were "living as part of one country in the past". No mofo, Eritrea was illegally occupied by murderous regimes of Ethiopia with #Soviet help!
But few facts for mr "legal nonsense" Lavrov:
โก๏ธPer wikileaks, Seyoum Mesfin indicated Lavrov as calling EEBC's virtual demarcation as "legal nonsense".
โก๏ธEritrea does NOT negotiate on its sovereignty & territorial integrity. I understand that #Putin wants to keep training #Abiy's navy. But you can continue to do that at Lake Tana, not Eritrea's #RedSea.
โก๏ธ#PP regime of Ethiopia has yet to disavow its declared intention to invade Eritrea. Meanwhile, Russia initiated a war against #Ukraine over four years ago for perceived threats that are far less serious than Eritrea's!
โก๏ธEritrea doesn't need Russia or any other 3rd party to engage in dialogue if the agenda was commercial access on the basis of international law and UNCLOS. Eritrea simply has not refused to entertain lawful engagement. However, the Abiy regime is only interested in a "dialogue" that ultimately allows them effective control over our coastline. That is what they have been saying for three years while powerful countries, including yours, have stayed quiet over this outright aggression! So, instead of being a responsible actor as expected under #UN charter, you want Eritrea to enter into a "dialogue" to do exactly what? To hand over its territory? Would you do the same with Ukraine?
brain-drain, de-populate & impoverish
#Abiy's #PP regime is doing to #Tigray exactly what emperor Hailesilasie did to #Eritrea! Whatever industrial & manufacturing plants were left after #UK dismantling operation, Hailesilasie cleared out the remainder from Eritrea & took it to #Ethiopia! Hailesilasie wasn't just trying to impoverish Eritrea forever by killing off its industries. He also wanted to drain its knowledgeable population, to have them live away from Eritrea so that they can't threaten his grip on the country!
New allegations of industrial looting have emerged from Ethiopia's #Tigray region, with circulating footage said to show machinery being removed from a warehouse belonging to Mesfin Industrial Engineering.
#Tigrayan activists accuse the #Ethiopian government of systematically stripping the region of its industrial assets and weakening its economic infrastructure.
The circumstances of the footage and responsibility for the alleged looting remain independently unverified.
Just read this communique and couldn't help but reflect on what ๐Tigrayan said in 2023.
"At #Tigray's defining moment, we will see major surprises including betrayal by those we once idealized. Despite the betrayal, Tigray will overcome it to become an independent nation!"
In a continued pattern of demonizing Tigrayans, #Ethiopia's Attila, ๐จ๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐
๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐, said "#TPLF (from its founding days) is alien to #Tigrayan identity."
Not surprising: in 2021, Abiy told Finland's FM "he is going to wipe out Tigrayans for 100 years."

ETHIOPIA โ Nearly 50% of Oromos are believed to be Muslims, yet Orthodox Christians continue to face targeted massacres, particularly in Arsi Zone, allegedly at the hands of Muslim extremists.
Jawar Mohammed, once a prominent opposition figure and now an ally of Abiy Ahmed, once made a chilling statement about his predominantly Muslim Oromo region, claiming that 99% of its population are Muslim and there, no one dares to speak out because we will chop their heads off with a machete.
That statement, if accurately quoted and understood in its original context, may offer insight into the conditions that have allowed recurring violence against Orthodox Christians to persist in parts of Oromia.

The man who is always quick to rush to social media to express sympathy for tragedies in foreign lands, has yet to utter a word about the massacre of more than 60 Orthodox Christians on his own soil.
Is his silence a political calculation, or a deliberate refusal to acknowledge the suffering of his own people?

Will the UN and AU Fail Eritrea Again?

Eritreaโs history presents an enduring challenge to the credibility of the international order: what value do sovereignty, self-determination, and territorial integrity possess when the institutions established to protect them fail to act? From the troubled international handling of Eritreaโs decolonization to the prolonged non-implementation of the EritreaโEthiopia boundary ruling, the record reveals a consequential gap between international principles and their enforcement. Today, renewed tensions between Eritrea and Ethiopia place that gap under another test.
The question is no longer merely historical. It concerns whether the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), and their member states will defend the rules governing relations among sovereign nations before another regional confrontation escalates.
From Denied Self-Determination to Independence
Following the Second World War, Eritreaโs political future became entangled in the geopolitical calculations of the victorious powers. UN General Assembly Resolution 390 A(V), adopted in 1950, established a federal arrangement between Eritrea and Ethiopia, which entered into force in 1952. Rather than achieving independence, Eritrea was denied its legitimate right to decolonization and was force to enter a federation that was subsequently dismantled by Ethiopiaโs imperial government, culminating in annexation in 1962.
The international system failed to prevent that outcome or restore Eritreaโs political rights. The consequences were devastating: three decades of armed liberation struggle, immense human sacrifice, and a prolonged conflict that ended with Eritreaโs independence in 1991.
The lesson is unmistakable. When international commitments yield to geopolitical expediency, the costs are borne by populations whose rights those commitments were intended to protect.
Africaโs own institutional record also demands scrutiny. The Organization of African Unityโs 1964 Cairo resolution affirmed the principle of respecting borders inherited at independence. Eritreaโs subsequent experience demonstrated the enduring difficulty of translating declared principles into consistent protection of national sovereignty.
The Boundary Decision and the Cost of Non-Implementation
The EritreaโEthiopia border war of 1998โ2000 presented another defining test of the international systemโs willingness to uphold agreements it had helped broker. The Algiers Agreement of December 2000 established a binding legal mechanism for resolving the dispute through international arbitration. On April 13, 2002, the EritreaโEthiopia Boundary Commission (EEBC) issued its unanimous delimitation decision, which both parties had expressly agreed in advance would be final and binding.
Yet the decision remained unimplemented on the ground for years because Ethiopia refused to honor its commitment to the Algiers Agreement and final and binding ruling of a neutral panel of international jurists. In November 2007, the UN Security Council called for its immediate implementation without preconditions. The Councilโs own intervention underscored the troubling gulf between securing a binding legal determination and ensuring that the parties actually complied with it.

It's not a surpirse!
Over the last 8yrs (during Abiy's regime), we have witnessed #Orthodoxy being targeted in Southern #Ethiopia, specifically in #Oromo region. The current brutal killings of hundreds of Orthodox #Chritians in Arsi is by design.
The destruction of #Tigray's culture, heritage and religion is in full effect. Abiy sent a non-Tigrayan goon into Tigray to implement the plan - destroy the Orthodox religion.

๐จ At least 47 Orthodox Christians have been massacred by Oromo militants in Shirka Woreda, Arsi Zone, Oromia Region, as homes are burned and security forces fail to intervene
At least 47 Ethiopian Orthodox Christians were killed in coordinated attacks by Oromo militants on October 24, targeting Birbo, Chole and Sole Guna kebeles in Shirka Woreda, Arsi Zone, Oromia Region. According to information from the area, attackers surrounded communities, preventing residents from escaping, before killing civilians, burning numerous residential homes and looting property.
The attacks involved armed groups operating in Shirka Woreda alongside additional fighters mobilized from the Wabe River, Honqolo Wabe and Robe Didea areas of Bale Zone. Families of victims accused the local Prosperity Party administration of supporting the perpetrators. Residents in Gobessa Town, the woredaโs administrative center, reportedly appealed to local police and security forces for immediate intervention but were told, โWe have not received orders.โ Security forces subsequently failed to intervene.
The Arsi Diocese of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church confirmed that Christians were being killed and displaced from their homes and warned that similar attacks were occurring in other woredas. The diocese stated that His Grace Abune Elsa, Archbishop of Arsi and Jigjiga, had repeatedly raised the deteriorating security situation with authorities, including the Ministry of Peace, but no effective solution had been implemented.
The Arsi Diocese called upon the Holy Synod and the Abiy regime to take immediate action to stop the killings, protect Orthodox Christian communities and address the worsening security crisis.
I'll never understand why one exerts so much energy trying to be someone else instead of just being oneself.
Question to #Ethiopia's leader, Abiy Ahmed Gragn Ali:
Why do it? Could it be a lack of self-confidence?

ETHNIC CONFLICT SPREADS TO THE SOMALI REGION
ETHIOPIA โ Fresh ethnic conflict is now threatening to engulf the largely stable Somali Region as heavy fighting between Oromo and Somali regional forces resumes in the border town of Moyale, forcing terrified civilians to flee across the Kenyan border in search of safety.
What began on October 18 as a dispute over raising the Somali Regional State flag has escalated into armed clashes, raising fears of civilian casualties, mass displacement, and a wider ethnic conflict.
With civilians fleeing for their lives and armed forces trading fire, the risk of this local dispute spiraling into a broader regional crisis is becoming increasingly alarming.
